Wallenstein BX-42s with my John Deere 2520

My chipper/shredder, a Woods 5000, does a great job on all types of vegetation up to 5".

What about the Bearcat choppers with my 2520? I see these supporting either 4.5" or 5" that look to be within my tractor's horsepower range or will I be disappointed?

Since WilliamD mentioned Bearcat...that Woods 5000 is built by Bearcat and marketed by Woods. PTO HP requirements are 15-30 HP.
There is a blower kit available, but it's about $750 more money. It would be nice, but I think I'll stick with my trusty rake for removing chips under the chipper.
Although the chipper is gravity feed, the angle of the chute lends itself to good feeding. The shredder really pulls in the leafy stuff fast...I mean FAST!!

Here's a vid of the Bearcat:

There are a couple other good videos...just search for Bearcat Chipper on Youtube.

My Goosen chipper has the shredder and blower, I find the shredder function as useful as the chipper function. The blower is nice also...

I did have to make a adapter so it would fit the iMatch.

There is a member on here that runs the Wallenstein bX42 (I believe) at the higher PTO speed on his b2620 (kubota) and has had better luck with it eating leafy branches and stuff. It's rated for that RPM but you have to weight the seat switch down for the tractor to run (at least the B series Kubotas). There is a thread somewhere on it.

Found that thread - quite a good one, too. Thanks to everyone, once again...

From all that I have read, my decision is go ahead and buy the Wallenstein BX42. Will call Woodward Crossing, tomorrow. In fact, they are within 100 or so miles from me. Hopefully, they will have a green one in stock.

How is this thing shipped? Could I go up there in my pickup and get and then unload it by myself (is it several pieces?) or should I pay to have it delivered?

Did you have to get a PTO extender, Kenny? My Woods' PTO shaft is just barely long enough as it is. When I had it mounted to my 790 (with the Pat's Easy Change), I had to use a 4" extender.
It is possible the previous owner of the chipper cut the shaft down though (was mounted on a Ford 8N).

No. It fit's my 4110 and my neighbors 2210 perfectly without an extender. Not sure what tractor is was mounted to before I bought it (used as well)

My order is placed. The Wallenstein BX-42 (in Green) should be here on Tuesday. I also picked up my iMatch on Friday and it is installed.

Thanks for all the good advice.

My BX-42 arrived this week... And today I logged over 3.6 hours of chipping. Chips like a BEAST!

I simply set up on a pallet (re: my other thread on "3PH Vertical Travel.") Previously, I had made several piles of downed limbs and it made very quick work of them - no clogs or bogging down the tractor. Nevertheless, I am quite tired, but feel very good about the work I was able to get done.

I'll say it again ... Chips like a BEAST!!
