Walmart brand tractor fluids

They may all perform the same, but given the usual factory position taken on the many possible issues or failures that can happen, I am going to use the name brand lubes as long as my tractor is under warranty.

I cannot afford to get hosed on a warranty failure because they want to make a case against Wally oils, etc.... it basically boils down to paying for slightly higher priced lubes now to avoid eating a very much higher claim dispute later (maybe I am just being paranoid).

Hmm.. I can't say that I have heard of any lawsuits over lube issues as long as the user used oils that met the specs of the spcified oils.. IE.. proper C or S rating for engine oils, and or other specs for different lubes.. like UTF.. etc..

Anyone know of any?

We do get to see many premature failures in engines as well as chassis failures that are do to lack of proper lubrication.

I have had and still own some engines on mechanical oil pressure gauges that show pressure loss after hard use and often times not much of it when quality name brand multi weight oils are used in them.

The oil change intervals set by most manufacturers is with their oils not those of a lower grade so if you do decide to use lower grade oils then be sure to swap it out sooner.

For what I've heard of Walmart and it's purchasing prowliness I'd say that their oil isn't but the minimums of any spec's! For that reason if you choose to use it then change more frequently. The losses I've seen inccured from lower quality have all been at the owners expense!!!!!!!!

I think you gotta qualify this some. In a gear, shuttle, GST or whatever... any equilivant fluid maybe just fine. However hydrostatics benifit by using the best stuff money can buy. I've seen several machines switched from a lower grade to higher grade oil and the hydro gets quieter and smoother right away. Its very evident in machines like the RTV900. Really, most people change this stuff about every 300 hours. Another $30 is 0.10/hr. I'd pay that for better performance.

Yep, it's surprising what a high quality properly formulated oil can do for a piece of equipment. The investment is cheap if you consider the consequences. High quality lubricants don't only help to provide better performance they can also extend equipment life.

I gotta agreee whole-heartedly here. In my case I've only had geared tractors. To me the privately labeled Costal brand from Advance Auto is fine for the hydraulics in my NH 1720. I use Rotella in the engine. Not gonna argue one way or the other on motor oils. To each his own.

There is no way that you can actually believe that, right ?

Do you believe that a Hydro-Cracked Oil and a PAO Based oil are the same ?

They ALL come out of the ground! It's ALL made from the same stuff...one is just "purer", more distilled than the other. Some get more additives than others. It's all 95% the same stuff. It's another case of paying a lot for an insignificant difference.

That's just MY opinion...

It's definetly not fine in a GST, same situation as an HST as far as increased performance using SUDT!

Not quite, you are way off base....

Some of that may be viscosity issues. i've seen some generic UTF oils that are not the same viscosity as all f the other oils they are spec'd to replace.

Add to that.. i don't think I've seen any generic SUDT stuff.

I agree.. I'f I had a Hydro.. or ford SOS ( very fluid picky.. ) I'd use a non generic fluid probably.
