( Ive used Castrol 10W-30 for 18-19 years..changed every 5K miles. Never had a bit of problem. IN FACT..I would have used it in my new Kubota..but its NOT "diesel rated"...so that made me go on the hunt for something that was.
Is it good?? I have no idea. It was rated very good once upon a time. But there are people using it under MUCH more severe conditions than Id even attempt and they arent having any problems......it will do me for sure. )
I've used Castrol GTX for 20 years too - I guess I'm just a sucker for their '80's vintage "formulated for small engines" commercial with the 'lil motor screaming in the background (I just love that sound). Oddly enough, at least according to the the 'oil bible' document, it tests out to be OK, but not great. Coincidently, (and to help keep this on thread) Castrol GTX measures out to be quite similar to Walmart Supertech - go figure. It looks like GTX does hold up a little better when hot.
