Can you go to your Banks site without signing in and look around. If a few people have complained they may have the solution posted on there.

You might also copy the error message and Google it to see what might be causing the problem.

Some banks, probably most, leave cookies on your computer, so if someone tries to sign in from a new device, they come up with all kinds of things you have to do to ID yourself.
You are saying, as I recall, that you can't even complete the first step of signing in, without getting the error?

Ron, I did look over everything on the credit union's website to no avail. But as for your suggestion to Google the error message . . . well, I did that, and I found the exact same thing on a Dallas credit union (wonder if it's the same one:laughing in June, 2009, dealing with IE 7, and a very lengthy discussion forum such as this thread and all the same recommendations; none of which worked. He did say the credit union's "tech guy" found a problem on their end but that didn't fix it either. But the thread ended with him trying a different browser that got through.

Anyway, I sent a message to the credit union. Of course they won't see it until Monday. I'm wondering now if it isn't something on their end that won't handle IE11 yet. Of course, I don't need to be in any hurry since I figure on keeping my old desktop until at least sometime after the end of the year.

Free newsgroups are still around. Try news.eternal-september.org (although you have to register) and aioe.org Some groups are still OK, although declining but a lot have degenerated to Juvenile sh*t-fights.

Well... I've been reading this thread all morning and after I finish my cup of coffee I'm shutting down this old HP Vista tower with a 1.8 GHz core 2 duo and my old square flat screen monitor and replacing them with a new Asus Windows 8 tower with a 3.4 GHz core i7-4770 and 27" wide screen. Had been having glitches with the hp for some time (anti-virus never found anything) and a couple weeks ago it would not even power up. Then tried it on the 3rd day to my surprise it powered up. I had already saved everything I wanted off the computer so I used my laptop to download Ubuntu Linux 12.04 LTS and installed it on the HP. Now I have been running Linux for a couple weeks. I had set up a duel boot system on an old computer years back with Windows ME and the Warty, Hoary, and Breezy versions (4.10, 5.04, 5.10) of Ubuntu so getting used to it was not hard. Unlike the early versions of Ubuntu, 12.04 LTS is supported with automatic updates until April 2017. Now my wife has Windows 8 on her laptop but I'm not looking forward to learning Windows 8 and if it ticks me off I may duel boot the new machine with Linux.

Just a little update (see post #412 in this thread). Since JavaScript IS enabled, and since all websites I've found, except my credit union, work OK, I figured the problem was with the credit union's website. I sent an electronic message to them over a week ago and received no answer. So I called this morning and the dummy I talked to insisted that the problem had to be with my ISP and that I needed to call them. I told him he was being silly, but if that's what it took to get them to do something, I'd try it. So I called my ISP and a very pleasant lady could only confirm what I already knew; the Internet connection is working fine.
So I called the credit union again, and fortunately, got a nice young lady who checked with their IT department and learned they've had at least 3 identical complaints, so they assume it has to do with Windows 8 and/or 8.1. So they are now trying to find a solution.
