Tractor
None
Sirs,

I am in the market for a new tractor. I want to add this to my Kubota 5030HSTC.

The reason I am asking here is to determine if I have overlooked any models/variants.

I want 85 to 100 pto hp MFWA with a
climate controlled cab with instructors seat (The instructors seat is mandatory.)

I will be optioning with a QA FEL, front and rear hydro ports, full exterior lighting...all bells and whistles.

My stumbling block is that I really, REALLY enjoy HST for how I use my tractor and my intended use for this one as well. (In the winter I do a lot of snow clearing, and HST for the back and forth and variable speeds like a gas pedal is perfect.) I am considering the Kubota M105X and the JD 6430 Premium.

The 105X is a hydro 24, the JD has a Infinitely Variable Transmission available.

I think the Kubota and Deere are both excellent quality. Please fire away and help me with this.

I had not until you suggested and so I just did.

A quite interesting possibility; thank you for the tip. Do you know if an instructors seat is available?

Are you sure these units(105X is a hydro 24, the JD has a Infinitely Variable Transmission) are HST transmissions? Or did I misunderstand what you were saying? I didnt think there were any machines that big with HST transmissions. I think there some with the CVT trans but not sure.

I guess that I was unclear. No, neither of those (or the MF) is an HST. If they were that would make the choice simpler.

I am trying to find an alternative that gets as close as possible to the ease of use and reduced cockpit workload as an HST. I have never used IVT/CVT or a hydro shuttle/Dyna 4/Auto Quad and so have nothing to compare regarding their functionality.

I am all ears.

jlsmith,

Yes sir, I would like that. If you PM me I will give you my email. Also, can you expound some on the transmission. I do a lot of snow plowing (with an FEL mounted plow) and snowblowing. The plowing is a lot of back and forth FEL work, hence the love for the HST.

We bought an M8540 this year with Hydraulic Shuttle Shift to go with our L5030 HSTC and really like it. The Kubota cabs are too small for two seats, but John Deere and others do and have really nice transmissions such as push button shifting on the 6 Series I believe.

Sounds like you may have found a good one in the MF; not familiar with them due to lack of dealers in our area.

Good luck.

Thanks TR.

I was hoping to find something to emulate HST as close as possible with a buddy seat.

The D 6430 Premium with IVT(CVT) sounds interesting, and the cab does look very nice. The Dyna 4 that I have recently learned of also sounds like a possibility.

I was hoping that some folks on here with experience with either a CVT or the Dyna 4 transmissions would post.

Those are pretty high dollar machines and while many might want one, parting with the money is kind of hard, so not many TBN members have them that I have seen.

Kind of funny...I have not even looked at what they cost yet.

I, according to some folks, "need a life".
I do not enjoy eating out, going to the movies, or to sports events. I don't do television (in the last year I have probably watched a total of 1 hour), or movies at home.

On the other hand, I really enjoy being out at 3 in the morning in blizzard conditions plowing snow with noise canceling headphones in the cab of a climate controlled tractor just purring along. Kind of funny I guess.

I can't speak for the specific Kubota that you mentioned, but I have been in the Ultra Cab 5040 and 9540. And the closest to the JD I have been on is a 6420. For comfort, features, bells & whistles- buy the JD.

I'm pretty sure that about any (Power Shuttle) will take care of your transmission problems. You will be able to shift from forward and reverse without clutching. I think that New Holland and Case have the biggest cabs, but I would not bet on it. If you are actually looking to spend biiiiiiig bucks, might as well check out every brand that there is. It's fun shopping any way and listen to all the points of view.

Good luck with your search. ;)

Don't know about the NH, but my son installed a buddy seat in our Case CX80 for his kids. There was room for two adults in the cab. Our Kubota which replaced the Case is considerably smaller. Overall, we prefer the Kubota, but if cab size is important, the Case is certainly worth a look.

The local JD store has a rental division that puts out a lot of 6430 / 7430 with Horst Snow Pushers for clearing mall lots. Must have been about 20-25 of them getting staged when I drove by there about a month ago.

you should check out the New Holland T6030, it is a bigger tractor than the 6430 Deere, comes with a power shuttle and cluthless shifting. biggest cab in industry, with a full size buddy seat, 3 point lift is heavier, and the tractor itself is heavier. it has a 6 cylinder motor which is a lot better for plowing, and hay work than a 4 cylinder like the Deere. i can email you more info if you want

The more I examine and distill the options, the more I am becoming interested in the MF 5465.

As I mentioned above, the heaviest annual utilization is for snow clearing. I have a few questions:

Do any of you gentlemen know how the MF955 FEL attaches to buckets/blades etc? (My 5030 uses SS QA type.)

Can anyone recommend a frame mount (not FEL mount) blade system for tractors of this size? To date, I have only used FEL style mounting.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

(The reason for no dealer inspection at this point involves a 5 hour round trip minimum to the closest.)
