What a great feeling and congratulations on a job well done!

Looks great and I know you've inspired many on TBN.

Thanks for posting pictures from start to finish... can't wait to see phase II... the inside!

Steel, I wouldn't hang flashing over the door rails. With all that beautiful wood up there and all your hard work, I'd build a nice cedar box around it. Then it will just blend in with the rest of your barn. A beautiful barn Steel!!

I second HoustonBrama's recommendation for the same reasons he gave. That is one nice looking barn.:)

I think you guys have talked me into what was an idea I threw out a while back. I had considered a cedar box to cover the slider track at some point a few months ago...thinking back, I'm not even sure why or if I dismissed the idea. Lord knows there is no shortage of scrap and left over siding with which to make a box. That's the beauty of it....no added cost and it'll look great.

It's been a while since I've updated. I've started on the walls for the stalls. I've managed to complete the exterior walls. I hope to get the divider walls and maybe one of the fronts up tomorrow.

I think it's coming out great. Esepcially, since like all the siding these boards are supposedly reject. All I can say is those boys at the mill sure are picky. There's only been a couple of sections that I've been able to tell why they were thrown in the reject pile.

Don't mind the mess...haha.

The 6" post, 2" stall material, purlin, and siding make for a stout looking wall.

I started a pole barn about a month ago, got the roof on and the metal on it, then i saw your post. It has a 12 foot cieling now after seeing yours I wish I would have made it taller so I could put a loft in, now it's just a waste of space. Think I might still put one in, but now it's on hold till I get some other things done. Least now I have some plans in my head for the next one:)

This has got to be the coolest barn I have ever seen. I just now viewed the entire thread for the first time. What a project!

I love the design

I dig the location

The wood is awesome

the craftsmanship is stellar.

I hope it serves you and your family and critters for many decades..

**** - that is a nice looking pole building. I say forget the horses and just move in.;)

It's funny you mention that. Last night I unwrapped and sorted the 3 smaller bunks of 3-ply wood for the stalls and stall doors. The guy I bought it from said there was some really nice, clear cedar faced board in the mix. I found them, and in looking at them I actually thought, "What in the heck am I doing putting this stuff in a barn?" From what he told me that stuff runs about $3000 for 1000 bf. The backside of those boards are fairly well tore up, which is why I got them when buying rejects. But the presentation face sure is pretty.

I've managed to get the stall divider walls up and have the wall on one stall front finished. I'll put up some more pictures when the remaining two stall fronts are completed. It's looking more and more like I might be able to get the horses in the building by the time we go out of town toward the end of the year.

As promised here are some pictures take tonight of the stall fronts and dividers. Still have to build and hang doors and install the balusters (conduit, my horses aren't historically hard on stalls and get along well). I had one 14 foot board of the 7" material left when finished....that was a close one.
