Warning to dog owners

In my case it can't be defibulators. My dog (a male black mouth cur) doesn't like anyone or anything except the wife and I. We are trying to socialize him but are having a difficult time.

Most zap collars for dogs warn that they may not like the zap and may turn on their owner. Also to use the lowest zap charge that will get the dog to do what you want it to, and some dogs just aren't going to take to a zap collar as a means of controlling their behavior.
We used to use them, but once one of our kids didn't fasten the collar properly and I came upon a bunch of computer electronics like stuff sticking up from the lawn and immediately realized the dog ate the collar because she could!

We later went to the Invisible fence routine, and it has worked well with both our dogs for many years.

And some dogs may change the way they behave independent of a collar or not, It is their nature, as it is ours as humans to be unpredictable and to expect anything, because anything can and often does happen. Most often when we least expect it. Remember dogs may be domesticated as breeds, but too many breeders breed for certain highly regarded traits and this can lead to other 'Frankensteinish' like negative outcomes on the down side of over breeding.
Dogs are obviously territorial, and have pack mentality, and Alpha dog characteristics in their collective DNA, over millions of years on this, and possibly other planets.

I recommend being aware of what you have, beware of how you keep your dogs in proximity to each other and especially how you feed them. Our younger lab, purebred started attaching our other older lad for her food after she gulped down her own. I had to separate them via out french door into our mudroom, to allow them to eat at the same time but not getting into it over their food.

A friend had several dogs in their outdoor pen, and one day came home to one having attacked and killed another for no particular reason the owner could discern.

Things happen, and with an animal as capable as a dog to reek havoc, the outcome is not always good.

So, like buyer beware, dog owners beware too, were talking about animals here, and they can be unpredictable, so be cautious, and think about what animals can and will do if they choose to do so.

Beware, be prepared. Good luck.

Dogs know. Dogs can smell cancer. Trust your dog. Avoid those your dog don't trust.

I don't feed the dogs together and don't leave them in the same room/pen together unattended. Back in the day when dogs roamed I didn't worry, if there was a problem, one seemed to be able to stay away. In a tight pen there just isn't room to separate.

I do leave them in the truck together when I run into the store or whatever, but one is too busy watching for me to return and the the other is too busy defending the truck to worry about each other.

Sometimes, you just have to shoot the coyotes. Not posted to anyone in particular. Breeders cull the imperfect, slow, and ugly. Sometimes it takes a bit to pick the culls.

Sounds inhuman but it has been going on long before domesticated animals.

Think about that.

May be wrong. I am a lot of times.

Anybody have any experience with this?

Ask the dog's vet about sudden onset idiopathic aggression (SOIA). A mild case of it presents basically exactly like what you describe. My dad had a rottie that had to be put down because of it.

Had a friend with a deaf dalmatian , smart dog , trained to hand signals . Then she told me the dogs name , I was whats the point with a name the dog is deaf . She just gave me that look and said I named him anyway .
Would you name your deaf child for any reason other than being required on a birth certificate? Sure you would for communication purposes with other family members.

I have two male Jack Russell Terriers. I do not leave them together without supervision. I was warned about this prior to purchasing them but I disregarded it after they got to know each other seemed friendly. One day they were sharing a cage and got into a fight. I believe the older and bigger one would have hurt the other if they had not been seperated.

Dogs are very smart. Mine speaks English very good, and a bit of Japanese too. She tells me what to do every day. I obey.

I think you may be confused.

I think the lesson here is to not trust anyone with a defibrillator.
