Watcha eating?

We eat a lot of stir frys....Pork loin, chicken or fish and vegetables with olive oil and spices...seasonings...WE love butter beans, butter peas, lima beans...When we eat ground beef we buy 90 % lean and buy boneless, skinless chicken breast and fish caught in US waters only....We also use our grill on our deck as much as possible. IN the winter a lot of soups and stews....Now I'm hungry...:licking:

For you Pinto Bean lovers...ever try Anasazi Beans? They are the queen of beans by my way of thinking. They are just a tad sweeter than regular pintos, cook up a whole lot faster, produce little or no gas...that's right, little or no gas. They get their name from the Anasazi Indians ("The Ancient Ones"). Used to have to buy them in a specialty foods store, but now our grocery store carries them, or you can order them from the company, out of Colorado. The are multi-color like the big butter beans. Oh, if regular pintos sometimes hurt your tummy, try these.

I have heard of these beans. I looked a the link but they said "mealier" which does not sound good to me.:laughing::laughing: On the other hand, producing little or no gas would make my wifey VERY happy. She was complaining about the air quality in our house the other night. I go by the old rule, that "S/he who smelt it, delt it." but she is not buying into that old saying. :confused3::D:D:D

I don't know what they mean by "mealier". They have the same consistency as pintos, maybe a bit softer if you don't watch them and take them off when they're done. I never liked pintos very much; had too many in the school lunch room. We buy Anasazi's exclusively any more.

I never met a bean that I didn't like except burned beans.:p The very best pinto beans I ever ate are the ones from my own garden. Freshly shelled pintos are a slice of heaven. Like all things fresh, they have exceptional taste. I love green beans, Kentucky Wonders, and all types of peas. I too love my cornbread more course in texture with more meal and fried up in a cast iron pan is best, though I've never been silly enough to turn it down just because it wasn't made in a fryin' pan. Pea soup and Navy bean soup are two of my favorites. Bean dip is also my favorite dip. If the world had no beans, it would not be nearly as nice.:D

I'm a bean lover also. I'll grab a can of butter beans, pop the top and grab a spoon :licking:

But I had chicken noodle soup for dinner.

I hate baby limas though.

Not tonight BUT recently, Sauerkraut with hotdogs (cut up, no bun) with mashed potatoes and HEAVY butter, salt and pepper! YUM!
That will put meat on your bones! I love it when weather turns cold.

I had breakfast for supper this evening. Homemade sausage patties, links are not common here, scrambled eggs, homemade biscuits, milk gravy, (no red eye gravy and difinently no grits). Wife had a little dough left, she mixed up a little cinnamon, sugar, and butter and made a pastry looking thing. Pretty good hot with a glass of milk.

Spaghetti sauce over spaghetti squash. I do love fresh beans in season.

I got home late tonight, so mine was in the oven still warm... The wife made a Frittata with our own eggs, cheese, spinach, bacon (Organic nitrate free) and I had Wegman's Organic medium salsa all over it... Pretty yummy.

A couple handfuls of dark chocolate peanut M&M's for dessert...

My wife and I eat breakfast for supper a lot of the time, sometimes sausage, sometimes bacon, one or twice a month we'll have country ham, but you forgot the hash browns!!

I've got a brother in law that has eaten beans every day of his life (that he remembers) except for the time he spent 3 days in the hospital. On the way home from the hospital, he told his wife that if there wasn't a pot of beans simmering on the stove when they got home, he was going to visit his Mom and get some.

Your BIL sounds like a renewable energy source...Now if they just made gas powered razors, tooth brushes and watches! ;)

I've found that since I'm older, my metabolism must have changed. I'm not nearly as gassy as I used to be. Maybe my body just naturally breaks down cellulose fiber better or since vegetable fiber is most of my diet, all my digestive juices can work to break down those gas producers.:confused3: On the other hand, my 13 yo grandson is a "gas generator." He can run you out of a car, room, or even the whole house.

I guess this is an unintentional advertisement, but I love the Progresso Lite Soups. I really can't think of a single one I don't like. I've eaten lots of meals of soup and canned beans, or soup and salad, or black beans flavored with chili, salsa, and onions. Since August of 2012, I've lost over 65 lb and done it with a smile on my face. I get full, but the meals are not high calorie and all low fat content.
