 It definitely sounded great, just bustin' spherical-shaped things.

Here's a favorite of mine; it's my late Brother's recipe for Green Chili Stew. It's simple and easy to make. He retired from the Albuquerque Fire Department, where his (seemingly) primary duty was Chief Cook and Bottle Washer.

GREEN CHILI STEW

INGREDIENTS

One small (2 pound) pork roast, cut into 1/2 inch squares
One can of tomatoes
One medium yellow onion, chopped
2 or 3 medium potatoes, cubed
Green Chile, to taste
one clove of garlic, chopped
salt and pepper to taste

Put potatoes on to boil with enough water to cover, and begin browning
pork in skillet with salt, pepper, garlic and salt. When meat is done to a
golden brown, put all ingredients into the same pot with the potatoes;
simmer until the potatoes are done.

Its a cold spring day with snow in the forcast. Nice hot bowl of tomato soup with two grilled cheese. Hot and cheap lunch.

The kids have wanted pancakes for awhile and today was the first unbusy Saturday or Sunday I have had in a month or so. Made a big bunch of home made pancakes. :licking: Nothing out of a box. :ashamed: Whipped up some home made whipped cream too. The kids are really spoiled.:laughing::laughing:

Sure was good with coffee on a cold, rainy Sunday.

Made 10 gallons of beer on Friday and I have to bottle 10 gallons I made a month or so ago.

Later,
Dan

Sounds good. I have a couple in the freezer just waiting for someone to exclaim: "I sure would like some pulled pork cooked on the BGE". Guess I'll just have to wait...in the meantime, Sharn Jean just put on a pot of Anasazi beans and pork hocks.

Had a Low Country Boil for lunch. A good hot hearty meal for a cold wet day

Darn that sounds good! What all do you put in yours? We use to use shrimp, crab, sometimes scallops, sausage or pork chunks, some taters and corn and whatever struck us at the time or whatever we had.

My MIL and her "friend" fixed it. Potatoes, carrots, onions corn and shrimp LOTS of shrimp! It was fairly plain compared to what I have usually had. It was good none the less! Some sausage and some cabbage would have been nice additions.

Whew. Finished bottling 10 gallons of beer and it only took 3.5 hours. It used to take me 3 hours to bottle 5 gallons so I am getting faster at bottling.

Taking a break surfing TBN while the wifey is going to make home made pizza. Going to be good with beer. :drink: :licking::laughing::laughing::laughing:

Another 10 gallons is bubbling away and I am running out of room for another 50-60 bottles of beer on the wall so I will have to make some room in my beer cabinets. :drink::drink::drink: :D:D:D

Need pizza now since I have not eaten since the pancakes this morning. But I guess I will have to wait awhile. :)

Have been very good last few weeks watching what I eat even lost a few pounds. So when I went to the store and saw that Prime Rib was 1/2 price I couldn't resist. Starting to smell real good! Leftovers ( if any) will make a nice soup for wife and I tomorrow,

That would go perfect with my cinnamon sweet potato, spinach salad, and mustard/dill beets. Not.
I'm doing just fine.

Another heart attack in the community - a 33 year old meat eater. He is not getting a chance to change his diet. He leaves two small children.

I lost my dad at 41 to a heart attack, I was 12. My mom is a serious meat eater, she will be 90 4/15/2013, works 5 days a week in our shop. I eat reasonably well, lots of salad and green, yellow vegetables and lots of fruit, I eat fish and chicken more than pork and beef. I'm diabetic, had a blood glucose of 326 in January 2000. Today it runs 88-110. No meds, good eating and exercise as well as will power. I refuse to allow my sugar to get excessively high. I was told that I'd be on insulin in a few years, instead I took pills for 3 days. I admire what you do Don, truly amazing! One size does not fit all though my friend.

How true, as I much on a brownie. You would love these - blackbeans, whole oat flour, dates, and cocoa. No (eggs) cholesterol, no sugar, no oil, but still a moist chocolate delight.

Bachelor food... Zatarains "Dirty Rice" with a whole sweet onion dices and sauted in butter, and a sliced Hillshire Jalapeno moked sausage. Topped with fresh diced tomato.

Pretty tasty for out of a box and cheap...

I just made a $60.00 pot of chili. Five pounds of meat. Ground chuck, slow cooker sirloin steak, and a pound of Bob Evans sage sausage. Most of it went into the freezer. It freezes very well.
