That, you never know. Thing is due to the cost of metals, Raheem charged me $74.75 for 2 rods in 2023 that I paid $42.27 for the same in 2021. And the prices only keep going up.
And they only last 2-3 years before really start to fall apart. So the electronic is actually cheaper.

I miss the old Hoyt Lifetime water heaters with copper tank... they had a long history in Oakland CA and then relocated to Reno NV and now no more.
When I buy gas it's now Bradford White... so far so good but cost $700 and up for California approved.

700 is cheap. They want 1700 for the direct vent units Im looking at…..yeiks. When I bought these rheems they were under 700.

I use a Marathon fiberglass wound HWH. The tank lasts a lifetime. Doesn't corrode, so there is no anode to worry about. Since the heating element doesn't get coated with metallic corrosion, all of the heat is transferred to the water instead of being insulated by scale. So the heater also lasts a long time.

I didn't even know about fiberglass tanks. I'm gonna check into them. I hope I can find one that is propane fired. If I can only find electric then I would need to run wire over 60 feet to power it. That will be expensive. But I really like the idea of a tank that won't corrode.
