A distance shot where you can get an idea of the 2 levels.
Obviously, the room, staining and landscaping aren't completed.

Wow! That's a great looking job. In my mind's eye, I had pictured a bare tin roof like you might find on a barn, but yours looks like it is painted. Is that metal siding or soffet material and is it tin or aluminium? Where did you get it?

Hey Brian,
thanks for the pics, that's slick. i was hoping to be a bit more lazy. i'd really like to use the upper deck as a roof for the lower rather than double my efforts through what looks like redundancy(is that tongue and groove 5/4?). question is how water proof can i get with the urethane (or?) on the upper deck.

Dennisfly,
Really nice job. I have a similar situation and have been thinking about hanging the same material underneath but couldn't convince the control tower that it would look OK. I'm going to show her your pictures and see if she'll go for it.

Dennis,

It's the neighbor's house/deck but let me see if I can answer correctly.
I believe the metal is tin and I think it's 28 gauge.
It came pre-painted from the factory.
He purchased it at Flexospan

On the vertical sections (e.g. where the deck changes level in the 3rd picture - next to the tractor ROPS), he used vented soffit.

Paul,

I like the looks of that coating from gustaf.
Have you contacted them for pricing yet? I'm curious how much that coating material costs.

Mark & Gerard,

Thanks for the kudos on our building job.
It was quite a project for the 2 of us. (It's the neighbor's deck but he and I built it).
We designed it ourselves.
The deck is sitting on 22 6x6's and is incredibly sturdy. We didn't attach to the house in any of the construction. Even free-standing, you couldn't get it to wiggle or move at all.

It took over 7000 screws just to put the decking material on. Our cordless drills had quite the workout.

What type of screws did you use? Gerard
