From what I have found price wise the Davis Vantage Vue is cheaper than the Tempest by around $100

I have had the Davis Vantage Vue for almost a year now. It was a no-hassle setup and havent had to do anything except read it.
A word of caution though....don't don't push the white button on the bottom of the sensor. I did it while unpacking and inspecting it. It took about 2 hours to figure out why it was not working.

Mounted the Tempest station this afternoon. Took less than 15 minutes from start to finish. I will have to say, this was the easiest and simplest install for a weather station. Will post a pic when I can.

Received my new Tempest station today
Borrowing from Paul, I made my own mount. Used what I had onhand, 11/2” PVC. The pole mounts are Cross cut in half, 1” mast. I have 2 appropriate size SS U bolts
Not likely to mount immediately. Active deterrent

Impatience got the better of me. Grabbed a piece of PVC and stuck station in umbrella hole in table. Future home will be co located with my VP2 about 100ft north.

Hi tibadoe. I followed your link a saw your live weather at 17:05 ET, 3/8. It indicated a lightning strike within three hours. Yet when I went to Windy Weather Radar, I saw no signs of storms for the entire east coast. Does the lightning detector give false alarms often?

It registered 3 false lightning strikes since I activated it today. Not a cloud within 50 miles of me. I looked up on the Tempest Q&A page and it listed a few possibilities that can cause it. Looks to be possible interference of some sort. Will investigate a bit more.

What value for RSSI are you getting?
Mine is -25.
The RSSI is located in the settings on the tempest app (bottom right) then stations, click on your station, click on status.
Motion detectors will cause a false lighting notification. My lightning alert has been quite accurate.

At 7:30 the top RSSI is -53 and the bottom RSSI is -56. What is this telling me?

The strength of the signal between the hub and your station. 0 is the best and the hub and station would probably be sitting next to each other. -100 is the outer limit.
