Weight Distributing Hitch On Dump or Equipment Trailer?

What would you do if the trailer had front mounted tool box with the pump/controls in it? Would you still be able to mount the WD hitch?

If you really wanted to you could get a set of these bolt-on hangers and use a WD hitch on a trailer with the tool box that gets in the way of the traditional hangers which go over the frame rails.

You know, I wish I'd known of those bolt on hangers when we got the Bri-Mar years ago. I ended up modifying the pump box to accommodate the traditional hangers.

The bolt on's solve some mounting problems but take a lot longer to hook up unless you have an electric jack..you have to raise the trailer tongue, while attached to the truck, up in the air a good bit to attach the chains, otherwise you can't get the needed tension.

True, they don't have that pivot motion that the traditional brackets do. I wonder why...

Thanks for the information. A weld on bracket version makes sense and I assume it goes on the side of the tongue frame since it cannot go over it. I will contact my local dealer where I bought the trailer and see if I can order a pair to go with my weight distribution unit. If you know anywhere that I can buy these online that would be helpful as well. Attached is a picture of my trailer.

They're about $55 bucks. I have a Load Trail 14k equipment trailer that has a wide piece of angle iron in the way of the reuglar chain hangers, so I had to buy this set which can either be welded or bolted on.

I'm a huge believer in Weight Distributing hitches. I pulled a 30 foot camper with my 1/2 ton truck for a few years. I couldn't have done it without the WD Hitch.

Now I'm debating putting a WD hitch on my tilt trailer. I suppose I'll have to unhook the torsion bars each time I load or unload.
