Weight on a yanmar 4ft tiller

Should work. Should be about 400 #, a 4 wheel dolly, or 2, and set of ramps or equivalent. I hauled a Simplicity 4' riding mower, (about 400 #), in the back of my '99 Pontiac Montana for 800 miles, didn't even know it was there. Winch it up the ramps with a come-along hooked to a front seat if necessary.

Dont think id want to winch 350#s up some ramps and into my SUV by my front seats. Then you still have to deal with most likely death if you have any amout of impact as there will be no way to secure the load in an SUV to keep from flying foward.

To each his own. I would do it in a heartbeat. There are numerous way to winch it up and tie it down.

Sounds like I better ask what I am looking for???

What types are there? I know to look at the tines what else?

I have a 187D ...will they all fit it?? Guessing I need to make sure the pto shaft is there since it is probably pretty short??

Thanks,

Scott

About the PTO shaft; yes, it needs to be a "short" one. When you have mounted the tiller and shaft on your tractor for the first time, raise the tiller slowly and take careful note of whether the PTO shaft will "bottom out" when you raise the tiller approaching the higher end of the 3pt hitch travel. What you DON'T want is for the shaft to "hit bottom" (i.e., it has slid together as far as it can slide, and can't become shorter) BEFORE the 3pt hitch has reached the top of its travel range. If this DOES occur, your 3pt will transfer its hydraulic power to pushing inward on your tractor's PTO output shaft, which in turn may drive the shaft inward, popping off a single snap ring internally that holds the shaft in place. Then you'll be in for a tear-down and repair of your PTO system.
This happened to my 186D with an RS 1200 tiller.

If the shaft they give you is too long, you can either get a shorter shaft (best), or you can set the "travel stop" on your 3pt control linkage so you can't push the lever far enough to bottom out the 3pt (temporary solution).

Just a follow up...ended up being a 5' not 4' tiller ...sold at auction for $650 and the guy at the auction told me it was in fair shape...

I did not bid since it was too big for my machine....

Had a nice befco 4' in that same auction that went for $900 or so dollars.....
