Weight Roller

Please do let us know how it works on the lawn. Did your Dad ever tell you what he paid for it? I also would have to consider shipping to MN. It may be cost prohibited. But it is the first one I have ever seen that hooks to the 3pt. and I kind of like that idea.

Was I right about Sacket2 owning the green one that you posted the picture of?

NO. He owns the 3pt. one I am interested. Go back and look at the previous two post. The big LP tank roller was built by someone called Freaky Acres. I posted it here originally in this thread, but I pulled from an older thread.

Got ya. My misunderstanding. When he piped in where he did, I assumed that his was the green one. That green one definately gives me some ideas for a roller somewhere down the road.

How does yours pull Chris? 3600# is too much to lift even for my 68HP tractor.

No lifting it. If you look at the picture its pulled via the draw bar just like any other roller. It does take a little to get it rolling. A friend with a 8N borrowed it and got stuck.

I built a roller this summer. I had a patio concrete pour from U-Haul carts and knew I'd have leftovers. Prior to the pour I bought a Sono tube, made 3/4in plywood ends and used a water pipe shaft. I stood it on end on concrete blocks so the axle would protrude from the down end. You could also dig a hole for the shaft. I filled the open end shoveling from the FEL then placed the top ply end to hold the axle in the center. It's still curing  awaiting a frame.

Sono tubes (cardboard concrete column forms) are readily available at builders supply stores cut to any length and even box stores have some, but normally they have a limited diameter selection. Many diameters are available. I paid $12 for a 6ft x 24"dia piece. At 150#/cuft for concrete you can easily make the size and weight you want.
