Giving me ideas. I have tractor pieces n parts, plus an engine. might make a frankentrak. :)

My little 2001 model year PT425 only lifts 54" I think. The current ones lift 60". So you could stack something flat, but if you want to dump a bucket, it has trouble clearing most pickup truck beds on the side (no problem for me as I use a car hauler trailer with sides). The larger and large model you go, the more capabilities.

I gotta tell you I ditched an IH2500b tractor loader with cab for my PT425.

The reasons were we planted a tree farm. Once the trees got about 5' tall, the IH couldn't fit down the rows. So we bought the PT425 to mow between the rows, and pull firewood from the woods, and mow our lawn at home, and plow snow, etc... and parked the IH thinking we'd use it later for larger things. That day never came. The IH just sat there for several years. The tiny PT425 did everything faster with the exception of knocking down large trees. The IH could tip over 10" diameter trees at will! The PT425 isn't heavy enough or geared correctly. Anyhow, these format machines are very versatile. The quick attach makes the whole deal. Hooking up 3pt implements multiple times in a day gets old fast. PT owners actually look forward to changing implements because its so easy. You have multiple tractors, so its probably no big deal for you. But if you only have one machine, and you don't have to do any dirt plowing or stump pulling (there's a stump grinder for the PT, too), then these machines are worth a look. I'd imaging they'd be great around a farm for cleaning stalls, hauling bales, fence maintenance, garden tilling, stuff like that.

Its really not much different than any other articulated front end loader, except on most of those, the operator sits on the back half and on most PTs (not all) the operator sits lower and on the front half. Have you seen any of my videos of my 15 year old PT425 in action?

I just got a set of logging tongs that I put on a chain on a ring on a 2" receiver welded to a quick attach plate. I can run into the woods anywhere under 4' wide, grab a log without getting off the tractor, and drag it out to my landing, shake the tongs with the joystick and drop the log and be off again in a few seconds. It sure beats getting off and on the tractor to chain up manually. Anyhow, its super maneuverable. Some folks worry about ground clearance, but I've only been hung up once when I went over a log in a downhill slope and there was no earth on the other side of the log. So once in 15 years ain't bad.

I also used to do little league ball diamond maintenance with it when my kids were in little league. These things are really fast and easy on the turf when having to move large amounts of loose material long distances. I did something like 60 yards of moondust (granulated limestone) spread and leveled with my 1/3 yard bucket and a chain link fence drag over three diamonds from one central pile in about two days and left no turf damage. A guy with a Case580 tried to do it but sank in the outfield. Each machine has its place. I got no regrets about this one. And I've bought some stinkers in the past!

Another one. This is on about a 20 degree slope. That's why I'm dragging downhill to a level area. And I'm doing this one handed, because I'm holding the iPhone in my left hand, and steering and operating the joystick with my right. Anyhow, enough of the thread hijack and sales job. You got the idea. :D

time to get a helmet-mounted go-pro, so you can adequately document your dare-devil PT driving.

What is really nice is that you can lift on a slope. When on the "flat" parts of my land, I would always be raising a rear tire on my conventional CUTs like my NH2120 even with a rear counterweight that weighed over 1000 lbs. With my PT1850, I have lifted near capacity and driven out on a ditch bank that slopes greater than 20° in both directions and I never have to lower the bucket to keep my center of gravity down. It is also unusual to flip the PT on its side - normally one does the PT pucker if overloading so it is easy to undo by either turning the wheel or lowering the loader. In a similar situation on a CUT, the tractor would have rolled over.

The down side of this is that I have to be extra careful the few times a year I drive a CUT because it is easy to forget a CUT's limitations.
