Eddie:

How about posting a link to your next thread at the end of this one?

I really enjoy reading about your projects and don't want to miss out.

The search function to look for posts by a specific person doesn't work for me.

Thanks,

Dave

What was it, and what is it now?

Maybe the old turbo caused the higher oil pressure which might have been the start cause of the trouble ?

By the way, congrats on your dozer running again... I know that feeling, Whether its my Zetor or my Volvo car, it allways keeps me awake at night if something isnt running and i need it to work.... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Before the rebuild I put a mechanical oil preasure guage on the engine and had 60 pounds at full throttle, and 30 pounds at idle.

Now I have 35 pounds at full throttle and 15 pounds at idle.

Is this bad????

Thanks,
Eddie

Uh, Bad? Sort of, but not too awful bad. Well, for a new rebuild, it is lower than you would expect to see. Just did a Ford and it now has 80 psi cold - 70 hot and 55 hot idle.

Did you by chance measure the clearance between the crank and the main and rod bearings? Use of plastigage, snap guage or similar. If so, what did you get? If not, you may want to. Those clearances are what dictate your oil pressure.

Did you put in a new oil pump? The relief spring may be too weak. A washer under the spring may solve the problem.
