by DC reverse do you mean DC electrode positive? the terminology really makes me nuts. i generally leave my machine on DC electrode positive, and i am almost certain that thats the same as reverse polarity.

Just saw you have a JohnDeere 310D, the stabilizer hyd rod will be 50mm, if you buy a piece of chrome stock to make a new one specify 50mm chromed plated induction hardened material.

That should be real easy to find in Costa Rica ????

I ended up having the local machine shop fix it. I went in there to ask them if I could weld it and they said it won't work don't try. My guru mechanic, the machinist, and one of the old school operators around here all told me the same thing. It'll break at the heat affected zone, and if it does it inside the cylinder it'll cause some very expensive problems.

The machinist knew where to get chromed rod so he installed a new piece for $250. Kind of an expensive repair but not that bad.
