I was hired to make a concrete dining table with a hedgehog shaped base. It's made out of 2 x 3 x 3/16 tubing. Hopefully you enjoy the video.

How do you get it in the house?

Then can the homeowner ever move it?

I really like the design, How much does the top weigh?

The bottom fits in a a 30 inch door opening barely when turned sideways and weighs probably 120 pounds. The top is 400 pounds. I paid two young men to help me move it into the customer's house and set it up. The next time it needs to be moved is the customer's problem. They were made fully aware of how much it was going to weigh before I started.

Cool job, very well done.

That is very nice and you did an excellent job on it. Kind of a strange project though. I can’t see why anyone would want something like that so heavy in their house. Will be a pain for them to move around.

I'll bet it doesn't shake when it gets bumped though.

Very nicely done joeu235!

I'm not convinced I'd like the concrete finish myself, however I have seen some beautiful concrete floors where the contractor has been paid to grind the surface with a diamond faced disk. They cut a lot of the surface away so that you can see individual stones in the aggregate sliced through in cross section. Very cool, but very expensive when I asked for a quote!

I took a beating on the table top part of the job. I had to make two of them because the first was a failure. I probably ended up making $10 / hour and put me way behind on the next job. When I delivered it, the customer said they wanted me to make them similar concrete counter tops. I replied this the first and last time I'm doing something like this. At least the customer is happy.

I attached black UHMW pads to the bottom of the base. It slides relatively easy without scratching the floor but getting it out of house next time is thankfully not my problem.
