Your personal attacks directed at me! You had NO or LITTLE imput into the thread before comeing in and jumping on me. If you possess the great experience and knowlegs you prefess.."where were you" when questions were being asked???

And I have NEVER told ANYONE to NOT buy a stick machine..and yes I have posted to various people that based on my usage..regardless of how much or how little it was / is that IMHO an AC/DC machien si much more versatile.

I belive it was to the OP that I posted than IMHO his purchase of his Stickmate AC/DC machine was the right one..and DID NOT "direct him" to get a wire fed machine at all UNLESS he wanted to do lots of sheet metal work where wire of about .024 is tough to beat.

I suggest you learn to READ the words....not what you think they say before jumping someones A**

and in my own case I dont "MIG" at all ( you DO know there is a difference???) and I use fluxcore wire out of doors because its the only place I have to work and I'll also state AGAIN that for general hobbiest work and light fab work the use of DUAL SHIELD fluxcore wire is a waste!

And yes I know all about putting up screens ( which I have) to block any sort of wind..except YOUR wind.

Attacking a TBN member is against TBN policy. Wish you would stop your personel attacks on him. Your going to get this thread locked up if you continue with the direction of your attacks.

LetsRoll: Dont fret over it. Lots of these old guys get cranky when they dont get any at home or anywhere else and have to vent. Might as well be at me....:D

Sully, you make me laugh... not with you... but at you.

Have you graduated high school yet and got out into the real world? You called me an "old guy", so you know I'm already there... I'll just wait for you to catch up...

Then again, maybe I won't. You'll learn soon enough, if you're lucky.

Like I said earlier, have a good one. And thanks for brightening my day.

There is a load of accurate information posted in this thread that would be helpful to the beginner welder. There is also a load of inaccurate information that will misinform the beginner. The sad thing? You would have to be an experienced weld to know the difference. Over 140 useless post and still continuing?

OK, I know the flaming will start but here goes. I have welded 1/2 plate with a 175amp Miller Mig running Argon with .035 solid wire. I did heat it red hot with o/a before I started running the mig on it. It has held for several years on the disc I did this on. Let the flaming begin.

Whats wrong with that? I've done the same thing with my MM175 only with .030 wire, my disk is still together, my vise stand mounting base still holding it's own.

Prep the metal right, get a sound weld...I see no problem.
