Get it there. Yes. Get it back. Not yet. I have yet to try and put it back in my small storage room. Trying to get the wife to sew me a big cover for it.
My son bought me another tool cabinet for Christmas which was great cept I dont have no more room for one. Guess he still remembers my rant from ten years ago when I was complaining about my black Sear cabinet saying why the heck cant they make white tool chest, everytime I set something small in the draw and it disperses.........So 6 years ago he bought me a Dewalt tool chest, bright yellow, a big improvement then I guess two months ago he found a bright white one and it is bright, I set a tiny nut or part in the draw I can see it no problem.
But now the problem, where to put it, I walked around my shop for almost an hr with a type measure, wont here, wont fit there, it might fit there but have to tare something apart. Then I gave my old weld cart a hard look with type and thought, we was going to add on to the old cart to place a plasma on it that my son bought last month. So thats the plan I went with, it required a little, almost lot of remolding.
First mark out where the new plasma and mig welder will fit, 2 the biggest change was cut out the brand new front panel so the top will stay down (a top lifting up is useless IMO, rather have a draw there instead) so I took my time there trying to make a nice clean cut, added a narrow board across the front top, another board from front to back to hold up the bottom draw section >> 3rd move wheels, handle and tray to other end, 4th add platform for welding gas tank. Now I have a weld cart with nice white draws to put welding stuff and dont have to bend over anymore to change out weld wire......................That should shake some dust off this thread.

I like it OP because you ended up with just what you wanted, did a nice job, and it will work out fine for you. Your only problem was posting it on a forum where people look down on wood as a structural component for welding carts

I wont be welding/burning on the tool chest weld-cart, most of it is made of steel anyways, I didn't want to weld steel to brand new painted tool cabinet so I chose wood. I could of used steel to hold the gas bottle but I have an abundance of lumber supply also for me wood is easier to work with when using screws. I mostly used holes that was already in the tool chest so that worked out good.
Every time I use my Batt curricular saw and drill, I think back 60 years ago, all there was back then was nails or wooden pegs, no batt tools. The only draw back is only two wheel swivel, better if all four wheels swivel but that can be changed, best part is it's white inside.
