The one note is that what I am welding is a bearing. Not sure about preheating or any of the brazing methods as I am concerned about heat.

What about welding studs/round bar on your steel piece and bolting the flange block on or leaving the stud/round bar just high enough a flat flasher could be put over it and welded to hold the flange block on?

The bearing you linked to comes apart. remove the bearing from the housing before you weld.

If it's like most it removes from the back, if the housing is being mounted without full access to the mounting side you have no way to get the bearing installed.

7018 bottom of the bucket. 309Lsi better, 312 stainless best. If tensile is no object, ( 25K psi ) Silicon Bronze.
