Welding Cast Iron to regular steel

OK, lots of things going on for me over the next few weeks. I am making a sculpture, maybe, hopefully. and I need to weld some bearings onto the steel (4x4 sqaure to maybe something like this 3/4" 2 BOLT FLANGE BEARING W/LOCK COLLAR)

Anyway, Can I do this? I saw Chuckee Using 7018 with good success and limited prep. Might follow that but wanted to look at maybe Mig Welding this? Or is there a bearing that is weldable and not cast iron?

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I've done it. It has poor strength, but it did stick together

Use a pure nickel rod,, plenty of ductility in the weld,, almost never cracks.

Right on. I stick weld cast iron to regular steel (A36) using Super Missileweld Rod (1/8" rod, DC+, 100-120 amps). Works fine.

Super Missileweld is a high tensile rod but not a nickel rod. Check with a bearing supply, you might find a pressed steel bearing mount.

Good application for brazing, lot lower heat to distort things. There are some arc rods out there for arc welding as a braze process. Perfect for this project. Lays in a nice smooth fillet.

preheat the cast material, well with mig, post heat and let cool slowly. I like to lay the welded piece on top of my hot wood stove to let it cool as the fire burns out.
