Been doing a little shop clean up and had a ideal I wanted to get some feed back on. My welder is pretty heavy and even tho its mounted on casters, I seldom, actually never have, move it from its assigned location. It is close to the door and right next to the fuse panel. I have a 15ft #8 extension cord wired straight in the panel. My leads are about 50ft long and I keep them rolled up on the welder. I need the long leads because a lot of my welding is actually done outside the shop. This works out for me when doing outside projects, but working inside, the leads are just to long. If I need to weld on something on the opposite side of the shop, I have long leads laying on the floor, usually tangled up in other extension cords not to mention trying to roll around with a creeper or stool. Its just makes things cluttered. What I have been thinking about doing is running the leads around the shop walls and adding some plug in lead connectors in various places along the wall. This way, I can keep a short set of light duty leads and just plug them in where I need them. I would keep my long leads for outside work when I need them, and just move my short leads to where I need them in the shop. I figure if I run my new leads up into the actic and across and down to the opposite wall, I still wont have over 50ft of lead connected at any one time so welding quality shouldnt suffer because of adding extra long leads. My question is does anybody make wall mountable lead connectors. I dont want to just hang the connectors on a hook.

Do you mean like a Lenco LC10 or LC40 female flush mount kind of thing? Or 50mm Dinse? You can buy the ones from a welder manufacturer that they put in their machines and mount them on a plate in the wall. Isolated and insulated from each other. I saw this at a school of all places once.

Exactly. I hadnt thought about looking for a Machine mount, good ideal. There are plenty of cable connectors available, but they are not made for wall mounting. I will have to make a trip to the lws and see what I can come up with. I need to put 2 or 3 connectors on the same leads, not sure how I am going to splice those in. My son does industrial electrical work, he might have a ideal or 2.

Bill. I found 1/2" DINSE panel plugs for one of my machines from eBay. They were so cheap I bought extras.

If you can't find the Tweco / Lenco style at a good price you could go with the Dinse panel plugs and use adapters.

Above. Left to right:

Have'nt decided what I want to do yet. I would have to buy the lead cable as well as the connectors, so I might just let it go for a while.
