welding question

/ welding question #41
Wow...so much testosterone...so little usable information.

I have a 300 amp multi-process machine setup for MIG, a 185 Amp TIG, and " 'lil sparky" - a 140 amp dedicated stick machine.

Now, why do I have all of those machines.....hmmmmm...maybe one process isn't the best for everything?

How about, you just make the correct joint preparation - and do the best with the machine you own? We do about 85% MIG, 10% TIG, and 5% stick.

If needed, the 300 Amp multi-process can get turned into a stick by flicking a toggle switch to the left and replacing the MIG gun with a stick stinger - I've never had to do that.....as the MIG is one pass using 1/16-inch wire on metal up to 1-inch. Waaaay faster than stick as the deposition rate is so much higher.

Sometimes time = money...but it helps to know WELD JOINT PREPARATION....

Ah c'mon man....a 300 amp 1/16 is a FAR cry from a Hobart 140.
Let's compare an Electra-glide to a Honda 50. Sheesh.....
