Actually, we did record it to DVD, but that file would be HUGE to put online.

Re: WELL DONE!!! FER ALL TBNER\'S AND BETWEEN GATOR BOY

I'm a bit perplexed...

I see what you've done & it's wonderful.

As I look at my setup, my water pipe OUT of the casing is buried underground. I don't have it coming out the top like you seem to.

Is yours by intent temporary and you're going to reset it underground later?

Did they just bore a hole in side of mine "x" feet underground so they could bury all the business?

I find it interesting with the top nipple, as it brought to my mind, the possiblity of adding a second pump in mine for a dedicated irrigation, fire or something other, system (I have a fairly high volume well)

Anyway, cool pics, great job!!!

TBN (and of course Polecat) does rule!

You have a pitless adapter -- I believe that is the most common. When I finally build a home on my property, I will dig down 4 feet and drill a hole in my well pipe and install a pitless adapter. But, the easiest, fastest way for me to get water a'pumpin' to water my trees is going out the top. I will not be using my pump in the winter, so my need to keep everything below the frost line isn't as important to me at this point.

Re: WELL DONE!!! FER ALL TBNER\'S AND BETWEEN GATOR BOY

That is so neat. I don't know what is better, that it works so well or that you were able to do it yourself and save a BUNDLE!! of money.

Do you know when the last ime that well was used?

As far as the rust, just let the thing pump for a long time. In fact, I would calculate the volume of the well, casing diameter times (depth of well minus depth to water) and then pump out at least ten to twenty times that volume. Should help clean it up. Sometimes when I was rehabing a well, I would use a well plunger and viciously pump up and down in the well to work everything loose and then put the pump in to suck it all out. Probably not needed here but if you can never get rid of the rust it might be an option. Otherwise, don't worry about it until you build the house then you can always add a filter system.

So, I do have one question. The torque arrester. The name seems obvious but what exactly is it doing??

Congratulations again

Mike

Re: WELL DONE!!! FER ALL TBNER\'S AND BETWEEN GATOR BOY

Don't know if any on here have ever used a 1/2 hp driil witha 3/4 inch chuck and set's say yer usin a 3/4 driil bit and yer drillin thru 1/2 " steel plate...if when almost thru u git the bit stuck u can literaly if not braced and/or ready!!! BREAK YER WRISTS....!!!!That drill is only runnin on 120v...this pum is runnin on 240v!!!!!and when she kicks on she's got loads of TORQUE!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifHENCE TORQUE ARRESTOR!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif What they do is literally over time ...keep the motor from spinning the pipe in half..they also help with keeping the pipe and wires from chafing against the sides of the well!!!!!! A PRETTY IMPORTANT THING IF I SAY SO MY SELF!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

GREAT ????POPSTER!!!!!! AND HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: WELL DONE!!! FER ALL TBNER\'S AND BETWEEN GATOR BOY

OK, I feel stupid. I kept looking at that thing and thinking; up and down. For the life of me I could not figure out what it was doing for the up and down. Well, obviously the answer was not much, it was the turning or "TORQUE" of swiching the pump on.

It is barely noon on Sunday, I usually don't try to think about anything until after supper. I should probably stick to that schedule.

Thanks, Mike

It was drilled in 1989, and tested for flow rates by the well driller at that time. Since then, it's been sealed up.

Today I ran it for 2 hours, and it looked pretty darn clear coming out of the pipe right before I shut it down. I filled up a milk jug and you could see the water still had a slight brownish tint -- but it is extremely promising that it just a matter of time before it runs clear.

Re: WELL DONE!!! FER ALL TBNER\'S AND BETWEEN GATOR BOY

Great thread! I have an old well on a piece of property I have for sell. I'm going to go check it out and see what I can find out about it. May add value to my sell.

Thanks TBN
