Three years ago when I was having my garage built, I knew that one day I would have a tractor, and that it would likely have a ROPS. I had no idea at the time what make or model of tractor I would buy, and I have read on here about folks forgetting the height of their ROPS and crashing into their garages, so I made sure the contractor modified the plan that called for 7-foot garage doors to change it to 8-foot doors. I am sure glad I did, but even at that, I sure got lucky! See pics below. :D:D:D

That's my OTHER pastime - 1970 Buick Skylark convertible that I've dressed up to look like a GSX. It's a work in progress, as all old cars are! :)

I also got lucky for once, my ROPS has about the same clearance on the 8 foot door. I don't have an opener on the garage door (yet) and sometimes it starts back down an inch or 2, so I have to always double check before driving out.

Tons of room for the rops

Love the old Buick. Mom had a 74 Pointiac Grand Ville Convertible. Was the first car that i ever lit the tires on when i was 16.:D The thing sure would go with the 455 engine. Mom sold it to her cousin who promptly went out and totalled it. I miss that car.

Where were the pictures taken? Looks like a nice spot. If i was to guess, id say the Wallace wharf, with the causeway in the background?

Said like a true Bluenose! You're right on, the sun was setting and it was a beautiful evening so what to do but cruise to the Wallace wharf? :D

Were not really that far away from there here in Pictou County. Usually every few weeks we go for a drive up through Denmark to Tatamagouche. Stopping at The Pork Shop and the Menenite Bakery along the way. Sometimes well go to Jost and pick up a bottle of wine and head for a Picnic out Fox Harbour way, so i guess im a little familiar with the area :D

You just mentioned all my favourite local spots all in one sentence! Feel free to drop by here anytime - let me know and I'll give you directions, I'm right on the Wallace River. Well, not ON the river, right beside it! :D

Ya know if you would have left it at 7 ft you could have justified getting a new barn to put the tractor in. :D
I just love to spend other peoples money.

Yeah. That would also give you seat time clearing a place to put the barn. Excelent idea Wedge. :)

Wedge40.... my sentiments exactly!

When I build my pole barn, I specked it out to build a RV-8, 11' ceelings. Now that I have a 23' sail boat in there and the tractor... the cars got moved out.... I have a need for a new one... and the plans are for the same 11' ceelings and move the sailboat out and have room for all the new implements:D

The car and truck will still have to fight for space.....:D:p

keep in mind if you have the tractor out and get mud/snow on the tires you may loose some of that clearance..

Believe me, even now I drive through the doorway verrrrrrry slowly every time! :)

just make sure you don't have any rocks or anything stuck in your tire tread that might pick the tractor up a little more and cause disaster ;)

I saw this post and just had to respond with ME TOO!!

I designed the outbuilding for my bike shop and a carport for my van. I have a garage door on the front and another out the back for access to the woods. At the time I had a Ford Econoline and 8' was plenty of headroom. Then we bought the Sprinter and as you can see it fits, but because of the slight angle leading up to the building I can't back in, just drive in forward.

Just got my first tractor last weekend and I put this photo in another post. You can see the van in the back, and also roof clearance in the second one. The day we drove the van home Tina was up on a lader, as I inched in for the first time. Taller tires look like a bad idea.

Ya know if you would have left it at 7 ft you could have justified getting a new barn to put the tractor in. :D

And somehow I even talked the little woman into it too. We found a nice spot just out side the back door that is not very level, that will be large enough for our small camper with the 1523 right next to it. The project list is building, literally!!
