Long story for a short question...

Got a lincoln 185C a few years ago from a dealer who set the whole thing up (cart, gas, Machine) it was unboxed and set to go when I arrived.

Took it home, been having fun with it ever since (but on and off, not steady).

So finally, my 95CFM bottle gave out and I got a new bottle this AM, as well, I knew I was about to use up the last of my wire so I bought a new roll. Asked what size it was, I said .035 (and I provided a piece of the wire as well cause I trust no one - there was no marking on the spool and the gun had a 035 tip in it.

Well, wire ran out this afternoon and I just installed my new roll of .035. And, you guessed it, I am running .030.

OK, so pissed at the guy who sold me the machine as the 035 tip was what was in the machine and what I have used, and pissed at AirGas as they sold me the 035 wire after I provided them with the original (which I can even tell the difference).

So, I am going to stick with 030. I do have 035 tips but I do not want to complicate matters much more than I have. Also, and I am sure it is due to settings, but the 035 sounds and acts like it is binding. I need to learn about the drive system, it is probably a wrong gear or something like that...

You need to return to AirGas and pick up some more supplies. ;)

Wow! ,now there is some nicely organized supply cases. I recently bought a Miller X-Treme 12VS, I am worried I do not have a power source that will work.
I have yet to even hook it up!

I see you are also from BC. I just recently sold this power source. It would have been nice for your suitcase welder (unless you needed an engine drive).

Now it gets a bit more frustrating.
Tore down the Mig drive system (super easy I think). Found the 035 jammed in pretty tight on the guide rates for 025 to 035. It seems to have "scraped) a bit. Found the 035 to 045 guide in the parts box. Next the roller. It says 035. The spare roller says 025. The internet says the 025 should read 025 030 0n the front but mine only says 025. Gonna call.

So basically, getting a roll of 030 (11lb - 8" spool) and a small roll of 025 to have on hand. Also going to call Lincoln and ask them about rollers just to make sure I put this all back together right.

Carl, do your rollers only have a SINGLE groove? If double grooved, perhaps your spare roller is .030 on the flip side?

Personally I just run .023 - .035 - .045. Best check with Lincoln anyhow.

You can go crazy keeping all the combinations organized :(

JEALOUS on all of you guys. No, for my machine the rollers are one piece but I did find out the 025 is marked only 025 but does work for 030 as well. I got a roll of 030 and a small roll of 025. And changing the roll out is now looks a lot easier so pretty excited to get back to welding this afternoon.

You could PROBABLY run the .030 wire on the .035 roller also.
