West Coast Smoke, UGH!

We are 2 miles from the fire, its not smoky in the house, but outside its terrible!
The fire is out for now, but who knows what the future holds.
The Deputy's were patrolling the area for looters and fire starters, they arrested quite a few people around here for doing just that and others held for suspicious behavior.
There were about 75 armed men in pickup trucks patrolling also because the deputy's could not be everywhere.

We bugged out for 2 days, it took 4 1/2 hours to go 3 miles on the road there were so many people and cars trying to leave.

They weatherman said it will for rain in a day or two and that's supposed to wash the smoke away...

Western Oregon is still under siege with extremely heavy and harmful smoke. To my knowledge the fires haven't seen a lot of aerial fixed wing drops because of the density. On the zero to five hundred air quality scale, in the Willamette Valley and PDX the numbers range from 175 to 490, all bad to absolutely the worst. Many businesses are closed rather than subject their employees to the elements. It is very bad. The fires are nowhere near containment and the 50-60 knot winds that predicated this whole mess are no longer present. Still, there is tremendous loss of homes, businesses, livelihoods. Lives of humans are lost as well as livestock and pets.

It's cleared out here. Mid morning and up until now. Only very light smoke and no odor. I can see by Bruce's post - #152 - that crap splits and one leg comes right over N Ea WA and N ID.

First evening in a month where horizon looks normal... amazing the difference seeing the sky and soon can have on one's outlook.

Good for you guys... still bad here as it is getting dark. Broke down a couple days ago and bought a decent air purifier. My sinuses and eyes are bothering me more than they should.

Yes, sorry to hear that.

The weather report down here says a couple of days window while the wind comes in from the southwest then the wind from the north will resume, and we'll return to the usual apocalypse levels.


News says the smoke has reached Chicago, NYC, now Europe.
