Now that I have a welder, maybe fabbing up some big pliers would be an option. The last time I made a dome, it was sledge, vice, or press. The press was slow as heck though.

Yup. I got the info from desert domes.

I remember that thread... pretty cool really. I always thought though that making some kind of a lever on like a cam would work pretty well.

Other than what I gain here I know squat about welding. A guy whom I work with suggested I get a couple of plastic air tight welding rod containers and then put in packets of descicant, the kind you find in electronics and stuff like that.

Thoughts on this approach?

I've read where a lot guys do that. Also have read where people use a small locker and a electric dehumidifier like is sold for gun cabinets
