What 50's era car would you want to have?

Austin Healey 3000 1959............Classic sports car...........looked like it was going fast when standing still..........no big ugly chrome or wings.............no massive wasted metal........just smooth lines...beautiful to drive............heard they are going to start making them again..........here's hoping

I'd have to go with the Second Generation Cadillac Coup de Ville with the 365 V8. Classy!

To buy one over here though would be very, very expensive, seeing as there are only a few.

I can remember one of these sitting in the field at the farm where my friends family lived back in the sixties. The car had been mildly wrecked so the owner had trashed it and pulled the hemi engine....

A 300-C CONVERTIBLE TRASHED??? !!!...they only made about 460 of those if I recall right.

We currently own a 1959 Impala Spt. Coupe; white with a red houndstooth interior; 283 Powerglide with 57,000 original miles. It is an all original car, with factory paint and interior. We are the second owners. We also have a 1960 Impala Spt. Coupe; Cay Coral (repaint), with original interior. It has a 283 with a Turboglide. We drive them a lot in the summer, on local cruises and car shows. Good people car folks, we have a lot of fun...and we like to drive the 2 lane backroads, like old HW 66.

You are the first person here to say you want a multi-million buck exotic limited production sportscar. If I had something like that I would be afraid to drive it because of the reckless incompetents on the road today.

As you can see, a lot of this car (which was called the D Type by the Brits) went into it's follow up...the E Type (better known as the XKE in the US).

One of the neatest things about the racing versions is that they were driven to (at least some) of the races they participated in....changed the spark plugs...maybe some of the carb jetting...and they were roadable.
