Now I'm not getting on your case, but this is exactly what I mean about AC systems. He didn't do anything you couldn't have done (other than evacuate the overcharge, which you could have at least "vented" if need be). You were showing no volts at the clutch when you should have 12v. That points to electrical or sensor failure. There is no other way you could get that condition. He just got you there quicker than you might alone.
