What am I missing

The knob below the 3pt control is just a adjustable stop. It's not draft control. Draft conrol is usually another lever next to the 3pt position control. When pulling a plow & you encounter a rock or really hard dirt, it will put a huge load on the 3pt & end up causing the toplink to push into the tractor really hard. The tractor side mount is attached to an override lever that will cause the 3pt to lift up automatically so that you can keep going past the obstacle, then automatically lower back down when past the hard stuff. The draft control lever enables this functionality & how sensitive it is to increased pressure.

I hear it's also handy for similar funcationality on box blades. Will lift the box a bit when you are about to loose traction if you have it properly adjusted.

Thanks for the clear explanation, I was clearly misinformed and now I know my tractor does not have it. I don't really have a use for draft control but at least now I know what it is when I hear folks talking about it. That's why I like TBN, guys like you willing to explain and share your knowledge.

Bobcat never offered a draft control as an option as far as I know. Its just and empty slot for us. I use it to spray lube the 3pt lift control bushings, etc.

BTW has anyone found a better locking knob for the lift control limit stops? Mine either get jammed, or loosen up during repeated use like lifting and setting my sickle mower.

Yes, the one on mine is also kinda sucky, I think I will make one up that is a little more effective. It doesn't look too difficult just has to loosen and tighten better than whats on there.
