What are the maximum numbers of hours for a tractor to be considered new

John is back from the dealer after a drive of over 200Km. I didn't see the smile on his face but overall he is okay now. He told me that the manager statement was: "It was a confusion which never will happen again". So, his theory was that the sale guy "accidentally" wrote a s/n from other unit instead the one which John was looking and the shop prepared that unit instead of the new one. Anyhow John said he learn two thinks plus another: check the s/n before sign the paper, write down the hours on papers to avoid any discussion and never trust a dealer.
Consolation: he got 1000$ on a prepaid card for fuel and the tractor will be deliver tomorrow morning. I told him, better check the card before.:laughing:

I think a lot of new buyers make the same mistake of getting too excited to pay attention to details that can bit later or at least I have.

I bought a RTV900 about 4 weeks ago but it hasn't been delivered yet because of road restrictions in my area during spring. Last week I was at my dealer's annual open house and found my machine blocked in out back where no visitors could run around with it. It now had 90 hours (I thought it said 2 when I bought it). I checked it over ad there is no way they put 88 hours on it. I commented about it up front and found there is a quirk on the RTV. The hour meter is apparently not wired through an oil pressure switch so if you leave the key on, the hour meter runs. They are changing the meter out for me before delivery. By the way, on many machines that is the way to turn a low hour machine into a no hour machine - swap hour meters.

Mine had 4 hours on it when delivered last night, No scratches on the bucket, I assume the 4 hours were assembly prep and testing and some running around on dealer lot by other customers.

One tractor had 6hrs on it when they delievered it,I didnt ask about them about it. I just called them,told them what I wonted and they brought it to me. I just done the samething with another dealer on new hay equipment,I havent had one issue with either dealer both are really nice to deal with. Would I have said something if I had bought the tractor with 1hr on meter and he delievered it with 12,yes sir! Well unless he drove it to the house

My last new tractor had .3 hours on it. FEL and bucket had zero scratches. They hooked up the new bush hog and delivered it as a package. It had .2 hours on it at the dealer. My lawn mower had .2 hours on it.

I bought a used B26 so my story is just a bit different. When I was shown the tractor it had 300 hours on it. When we did the paperwork I asked that the number of hours be written down on the sales agreement. The salesman was a bit surprised as this was the first time a customer had asked for the number of hours be written down on the agreement

A few days before delivery the salesman called to say they'd made a mistake and rented out my machine and it now had 310 hours on it. I was far less than happy at this turn of events and only a bit happier when they took the full rental amount ($300) off the price.

Always get the sales person to write the number of hours on the machine even if it's right out of the box.
