What attachment should I use?

What is the way to purchase glyphosate? I see both 41 and 70% available. And many brands available. Will this herbicide also kill poison ivy?

It's easy to find the 41% for about $40 for 2.5 gal jug. (It get's mixed way down with water) That's what I use, and it will even kill Beech.
Do you have Tractor supply (TSC) around in CT?

I'd go for a sterilant such as Sahara or Mojave as long as runoff isn't an issue. RoundUp doesn't prevent new growth.

What are the environmental issues relating to these products?

Here is the link for the label: http://www.cdms.net/ldat/ld545000.pdf

Not sure what you are looking for John but I'll tell you what I know from my experience. We are careful to use this (I run a lawn and landscape company) where runoff can be an issue. I would expect a sandy base driveway would not run off into the lawn. Large industrial parking lots that are weed free typically were treated economically with a sterilant. Both these products are granular and can be mixed in a backpack or boom sprayer or another option is to spread the granules on the ground where they collect by cracks in the pavement and prevent the weed growth. We seldom treat areas more than once a year when using this product. I plan on spraying a fenceline this weekend after weedeating it down thoroughly. I will only use this type product if I know rain is not in the forecast for a few days so the product soaks into the soil and doesn't have the chance to run off and kill downhill grass and vegetation. You can buy the homeowner version of this product at Rural King/TSC, etc.

I use the glyphosate from TSC, and it works like a charm. You have one close to you in Barkhamsted. Good luck!!!!

One more point about glyphosate: Roundup's patent expired. The generics are the same thing.

But read the label - Roundup is sold in 41% and 50% concentrations plus a weaker concentrate for the home gardener. Also a thinned version in a spray bottle for direct application. Generic brands should work as well but might be other concentrations. You need to know the concentration being sold, to compare price per gallon of working mix.

The generics can differ according to whether they contain a surfactant and the type of surfactant they use. Based on my limited experience, adding dish detergent as a surfactant to glyphosate packaged without a surfactant isn't as effective as adding a commercial surfactant. Commercial surfactants aren't cheap, so I think buying glyphosate with surfactant already added is usually more cost effective.
