Looks a bit different than most, appears to allow the blade to free-float (disconnects the toplink) and has a hinged back blade - good OPTION if it can be LOCKED DOWN. Heres a google result, showing yours first and another they want $1500 for

I like that ALL rippers can be raised/lowered with one control, most of the cheaper new ones make you treat each ripper separately. NO WAY I'd pay for that, when I'm seriously using my Gannon those rippers get raised/lowered (hydraulically) every few passes.

I gave $1400 about 12 years ago for the 7' gannon AND an OEM 3PH adapter (4 ckt hydraulics, adapter weighs around 500#) and still had to buy new rippers (about $150 at the time)

Both of the MF18's look pretty "rode hard and not put away at all) to me, but the first time you actually USE a brand-new one that purty paint WON'T be...

IMO, if you could bid under $600 and get it, it'd probably do what you need (and leave you $$$ for a TnT setup) ... Steve

Would the cutting edge need replaced something like this? Would it be available?

It's hard to be sure just looking at pics, but both blades appear to be a pretty normal bolt spacing (other than the extra bolt on the ends) - I've not had to do anything on my Gannon because the salvage operation I got it from had put new edges on it front and rear.

As near as I can tell, neither of those edges are worn down much - they usually wear at corners more than the rest, and all corners look pretty square.

Without seeing the other side of those bolts, they appear to be standard "plow bolts" - countersunk flat heads, with a square shoulder to keep the countersunk parts from spinning. Usually 5/8" coarse thread with normal (usually Grade 8) nuts/lock washers on the other side. I have several pieces of cutting edge I got from the local county shops years ago, same mount. Plow bolts are available from any REAL fastener place, so THAT part is pretty standard.

Those blades appear to be single edge; the ones on mine are DOUBLE edge with bolt holes CENTERED between edges, those can just be reversed when one side's worn out.

A quick search on "replacement cutting edge for box blade", first one that came up

Cutting Edge Blades | Paumco Products, Inc

Scroll down a ways, there's a 6' for $169 (I searched that site specifying reversible, but odds are that place has just about anything you want)... Steve

Or...

From their description, that might be an exact replacement (ALSO double-edged)

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on this and see how it goes. Other than that after doing lots of pricing it looks like the King Kutter BB72 is the most weight for the buck. It's over 500 pounds which is considerably heavier than a lot of them. A good medium duty Land Pride that weight just a hair more is right at double the price of the King Kutter. I just hope that a 50 HP tractor isnt't too much for it.

I doubt that'll be a problem; your tractor is about the same weight WITH the loader as my Allis is WITHOUT - remember, horsepower does no good if you can't get it to the ground. I'm guessing yours has about the same pull as mine (probably more with the 4WD tho) - just don't go all "speed racer" on it, BB's work better (for most jobs) the SLOWER you go - also tends to BREAK LESS if you hit a rock or root... We bought a China made 5' box blade from our local farm auto store. It only comes on sale once a year. The out the door price was lower than the price of steel to do a homemade. Yes it is China made. It is not as crude as many may suspect. It is rugged to a fault. Heavy enough for the uses we have for it, and our tractor.

Remember, it is designed to rough move dirt, and does so more than adequately. I'm more than happy with its performance and it will last me a life time.
My 5 cents of opinion and experience.
