What causes tractor rollovers?

I have a few spots on my property where I will not take the tractor - either vertical or horizontal. It might be OK but there is always the chance of a hidden hole or rock. It's just not worth finding out .............
Oh Yeah, and it can happen so fast even if you are going slow.

15 DEGREES slope and no more;

A tilt meter mounted on the center of the tractor hood or a slope meter taped on a piece of cardboard
and a no greater than 15 degree slope for sidehill mowing on a dry side hill is the one and only
thing that guaranty that you will wake up the next morning in one piece.

You have to stand at the bottom of the side hill and bring the slope meter cardboard to eye level and
then look to see what the slope is and if its above 15 degrees pass on mowing UNLESS you can mow up
and down with dry sod and someone pulling you up with a winch.

A ventrac will and can and will roll over even with dual tires so keep that in mind as it does happen.

The main factor in tractor rollovers is tractor design above all else. Safety of cars has improved vastly over the last 50 years while tractor manufacturers just carry on turning out the same basic layout. You would want a safe car for your kids to drive but we still put up with unsafe tractors. Some tractors are safe on hills, but it is a small number.

I was using heavy equipment for paying my tuition and was driving a tractor when I was sent over to mow a steep hill near a school in the morning. Well, there was heavy dew so it was very wet and I slid down all the way to the bottom, over and over and I wonder how they managed to mow such a hill but I got it done. Well the next morning the assistant asked who had mowed that hill and when I raised my hand he went into a long "lesson" on the dangers of rollovers and how lucky I wasnt killed, and chewed out the one who sent me as he said you can never mow a hill when its wet or early morning, so my first lesson in tractoring..
Stupidity on the part of the operator.... simple answer.
