If you think you can make 60 hp work, the 2860M power shuttle is a heck if a machine; but it's probably 50% above your starting budget, I would be surprised to find one under $47k, with loader., but new, loader, and Cab, is $55k

There is a very low hours, very lightly used, open station in Missouri, for$28.5kView attachment 978811View attachment 978812

That does look like a good deal, but everything in my barn gets covered in silt when the spring winds hit. It gets in every little crevice and makes a huge mess in general. Whatever I get, it's got to have a cab.

Also I forgot to mention that I'm going to increase the budget. I don't think I'll get what I want for $45K. So all in with a 8ft plow blade with 3rd function, tire chains (don't want them, but I think I'm going to need them) fluid filled tires, tire weights x 2, rear defroster/wiper, plus a rear blade, I might be persuaded to spend up to $60K. Still, I think I'm going to have to get a bargain or buy something from India/turkey or something used (or both).

It's hard to buy a tractor when you're me and don't have a clue LOL, but in the end I'd rather spend more and have more tractor than I need than end up disappointed and have to go through the hassle of a do over. Besides I don't really want to buy something new if I can avoid it. It would save a lot of headaches, but I almost never by new stuff even though I can afford it at this stage in life.

It looks like the nearest MF dealers to your area are in Gallup, NM or Salida, CO.

Wife told me there's a dealer in Montrose, but they sell ATV's and sleds, so I'm not sure how serious the tractor side of the business is. Guess I'll find out next week.

I just looked at the MF dealer locator. The dealership in Gallup is large and has been there for decades. I’m not sure about the Salida dealer. We have one of those Kubota dealers nearby in Santa Fe that sells tractors, ATVs and UTVs. I never considered them because they had minimal parts and not much of a service shop. I go to Albuquerque for parts/service. Hopefully the Montrose dealer will be an option for you.

I hear what you’re saying about not buying new. But when I was looking 3 years ago, all the decent used machines weren’t much of a price discount compared to new. So I gave up on chasing used units and just went new with 0% financing and kept my cash invested.

My biggest fear with that.... if the market goes down, one can end up paying $90K for a $60K tractor. It works out great if the market goes up, but it's an election year and the market is already close to an all time high. I know statistically the market averages +12% a year, but it still quite a risk. Last time we tired something like that, it didn't work out.

These are in my price range, but for Kioti and NH there's no local dealer support if I remember correctly. A new 92hp (M5-091) Kubota is over $85K!

Even a 5% CD is earning something. I always jump at 0% interest and keep my money.

What did you think of the used tractors, linked in my post? If they are legit, that seem like substantial savings over new, for something with not a lot of hours. No local dealership is a bit of a deal breaker though.

I like that last unit a lot (the 100 hp MF) depending of course on condition. And you do have dealers in Gallup and Salida if you need parts or dealer services. Not close, but a few hundred miles. Cab is always nice IF you’re not working in the forest where broken glass is likely. But it’s located a long ways from your place. You’re in an area where dealers are few and far between, so SW Ag is the only real long established full service dealer in SW Colorado. That means Kubota if that is important to you. Tough decision. I’ve been told that Navajo Tractor in Gallup is pretty price competitive because they do a lot of reservation sales. They are a long established MF dealer that might be worth checking out. They may have some used units also.

Thanks I will have to make the trek to NM to check them out. Going to see what's up with the MF dealer in Montrose tomorrow. They have a new 2022 100hp MF tractor with cab and loader for $75K. Maybe they want to deal....

Looks like the MF 4710 tractors are made in China 🤬

What a disappointment.
