I too had heard that they were Chinese, so I went to their website and checked them out before looking at Deeres. They are a Japanese company.

They are a Japan company. I do not know if all Yanmars or Yanmar parts are made in Japan or it they contract out like all the American companies do. It would not suprise me if Yanmar had a factory or bought from a factory in China or anywhere else......

Yanmar engines are made in several countries, theres a plant in the US and one I know of in Italy. The parent company has it's main office in Japan, where they origonated from. They are one of, if not the biggest manufacturer of marine diesel engines in the world.
