What country would you live in if you could?

OK, I see I'm not getting through to some. If an earth quake hit your country and it sunk and you were forced to have to go to another country where on this planet would you and your family including your dog go? If you stay where you are you will drown in salt water.

Why hasn't anybody mentioned Cuba! Free Health care, Temperate Climate, Just enough to eat(So you don;t get fat)
Strong Leadership, the list just goes on and on!

Well, that's different :) I would have to consider Argentina or Chile. Never been there, but it always seems like a good place to visit. I would rule out deserts, tropical islands, crowded places, places without seasons, anyplace where seafood is the main offering, and tourist destinations. I don't care what language they speak, I would learn enough to have torturous conversations :)
Dave.

I've give it some thought and would like to try living around the 8500" above MSL level on a mountain on the equator. As I read maps, that limits my selection to a few peaks in the South American Andes, one or maybe two mountains in Indonesia/Sumatra, and Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa. While it is a solution that would probably avoid the salt water flooding problem, I'd choose it for the year-round temperate climate.

What brought up the question, Fallbrook? You live in pretty country. Is it because it's in California? :D

Dave, very interesting. I pick either New Zealand and secondly Chile.... Chile is very, very interesting.

OK... so, TEXAS is underwater.... so, of the countries that I have personally been to, I'd go to Costa Rica.

Reasons:
Many mountainous areas where never too hot or too cold.
No deserts/droughts
Literacy above 90%, better than USA.
English taught from elementary school up, English very widely known.
No national army, really, none.
One medical insurer..single provider. Healthiest populous I've seen in C.A.
I already speak Spanish. People are extremely friendly.
Safest country I've been in in Central America
Huge variety of wildlife, terrain, great fishing
Almost everyone is pro USA, unlike much of rest of Central America.

Haven't been to New Zeland or Australia. They look enticing, might choose them if I had been there.

Countries I've visited that didn't make the cut:
Canada
Mexico
Belize
Guatamala
El Salvador
Honduras
Nicaragua
Peru
Brazil
England
Scotland
Spain

Wow, you should try to get out and see some of the world. LOL. Samalia wasn't bad if you don't mind poor and HOT. Saw 132F while I was there. I don't think it ever got below 120F during the day. We were there for about a month in August of '83.
