see...'tole ya:ashamed:

"Having the tools you need, using the tools you have"

I like that, it does not apply to me, but I like it.

Tools I have but don't use much;
B&D electric file
Dewalt biscuit joiner
Makita tool sharpener
Very old 1/2" drill circa 1930's made of aluminum, magnesium or some other metal I can't weld.
Rockwell radial arm saw
Mafell portable band saw
Delta Unisaw
B&D 1/2" 600 RPM drill
B&D 1/2" 950 RPM drill

I suspect there are more, but I don't use them enough to rememeber them.

#1 tool I use;

A Wilton vise my Dad gave me for my 20th birthday. I have a great stand for it I made, I use it all the time, its like I got a third hand!

I've been fortunate to visit quite a few countries. A few more on the bucket list. At the moment though, wife and I are having a bungalo built in the mountains of northern Thailand for when we need to get away. Very friendly people, $ still goes a long way, great climate, something new to see on a daily basis. Last time there had to dodge an elephant while coming around a corner on the bike (motorcycle)!!

Can we take the equation of humans rule out of the mix :D? If that were the case I'd probably stay in the US. For me it isn't so much what country but more of which dictator ship I'd like to not be under????????? Governments and bureaucratic BS have a way of ruining beautifull places real fast.

I would go the the Phillipines. In fact if all goes well that is the plan for retirement. just not sure when that will be. My girlfriend can return home to her family and I can live out my last years near the ocean. Sand, palms trees and ocean surf will be a nice change from a life of snow, pine trees.

Egon, what would it take for you to adopt me, my beautiful wife, my incredible 8 year old son and our superb border collie/lab mix?

Hey, anytime! :thumbsup:

Now there's a plan fermenting, just in the primary stage mind you. We have wood. That means with the use of your strong back and checking account a very nice cold Moulded sailboat of ,oh say, 50 foot with shallow draft and masts that recline easily could be built. Then it gets stocked right up with food, water and charts for the world. Maybe check out the Azores on the way to the Emerald Isle and then ever eastward on the canals and rivers of Europe. The rest of the trip will then be planned as we go.

Now, seeing's as your a dutiful son and really family support oriented, we send you to Calgary Town for one of those high paying jobs in a high corner office with a view of the mountains. With the monthly stipend you will send the Family we can tour the world at leisure.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Oh, I don't speak French either!:D

OK, I see I'm not getting through to some. If an earth quake hit your country and it sunk and you were forced to have to go to another country where on this planet would you and your family including your dog go? If you stay where you are you will drown in salt water.

I'd rather drown than move!!! :thumbsup:

Ahhh, just kidding. :laughing: I'd go to Canada if they'd let me in. Why? Because I like it here and Canada is not much different than here. I like the change of seasons, the fields, woods and many lakes, rivers and streams. And I really like the proximity to the Great Lakes. Don't get me wrong... I'd like to travel internationally for months at a time, but I really like coming back here each time I am away. Home is where the heart is, and, as weird as it sounds, my heart is in Indiana. Fields of corn. Woods of oaks. Hot humid summers. Cold crisp winters. Leaves crackling under your feet in the fall. Budding green in the spring. The air smells sweet. My family is here, both the living and the dead. I'm staying. :)

New Zealand looks really beautiful. The southern tip of South America sounds incredible, too. I have not so much interest in jungle areas like the tropical Americas, so I wouldn't want to live there. It would have to be some place with a change of seasons similar to here.

You reminded me of something my son said - one of the best parts of a vacation is the first ten minutes after you get back home.
Dave.
