Bid $33,568.32...some weird number like that.
That's how I won the bid on a car I wanted last year.
This guy looked nervous at the $18k so I bid enough to spook him and not have him even think aboot it.
Could probably have done it at $25K.
Something this well preserved doesn't come along often.

Plans are:
New fuel tank and lines.
Rebuild original 4 barrel carb.
It has the Pontiac 400cid engine not the smog Olds 403.
Mild upgrades. Improved performance aluminum intake manifold. Retaining the original carb.
Port and polish the heads.
Mild cam update/grade.
Replace exhaust manifolds and exhaust with free breathing unit.
Tranny is a TH400. Change fluids for now.
Suspension should only need minor work. Performance shocks, new bushings, springs look to be sitting OK.
Brakes get a whole replacement with everything new from the master cylinder to all four wheels.
A heavier duty rad.
New hoses etc.
More stuff probably.
Keep me busy project for the winter.
Be ready for my birthday in May.🤞

Headers.
Advance timing (34° max). Q-jet epoxy where sponge is...bottom plate. 1.6 rockers on exhaust (I can't type fast...my "Pontiac" wife talking too fast). Find #92 heads from a 428 if you can. Save Q-jet, 650 Holley spreadbore mech. secondaries w/pump cam kit (more & sooner). Power valve by formula: vacuum at idle in drive ÷2...so 12" Hg=6.5 pv.
Save HEI, use steel points distributor, adv. all in by 2800.

... girl friend standing up through the T-bar topless waving to people up at Wasaga Beach.
She was an exhibitionist and I have pictures of her posing 96% nude (just a bit of the slip and slide hidden) on my original TAs hood, bent over the hood and even lying on the roof.
You're on the right track, lot of fun and trouble back in the day. Still better tape my mouth shut tonight....

Bought a rather expensive weller brand soldering gun. After my cheap pos hf joined my growing scrap pile. Man does this thing work good and worth the price imo I'm soldering new micro brake light switch wiring on my old snowmobiles. Seems when I go Xmas shopping for others I run into things priced cheaper than normal. So I buy them for myself. Probably shouldn't be in a tool aisle shopping for my wife but sometimes I can't help it lol.

I have several Weller guns from the 60s-70s still working fine. Tips are expensive though, so just take a length of bare copper wire (6ga-8ga) simply bend & form legs. Squeeze middle together for the tip. Flux & tin the tip.
I say length because you can make it much longer if needed. (43+ yr tech)

Surprisingly some of the DeWalt cordless tools I buy end up being used more by her than me. The cordless back pack sprayer she really likes for spraying round up around Xmas tree bases and her 12" chain saw, For Xmas she wanted the DeWalt cordless pressure washer spray gun unfortunately I already bought one a few yrs ago works good for smaller stuff and boats on docks it's super portable. Hd was running a dewalt bare tool promo So this year I bought her a DeWalt 20 volt blower came with 2 batteries 2 amp and 5 amp plus charger. I usually bleed black and yellow minus a large Milwaukee tool chest and a few m12 things. 😂

Log Splitter arrived at the local Ace yesterday; @770 lbs. crated. Will pick it up next weekend.

Picked up the log splitter today and started putting it together on my trailer. Overall, a heavy weight unit. A couple of minor issues:
  1. The Honda engine was installed slightly crooked. I loosened the 4X engine mounting bolts and squared it up.
  2. They recommend the wheel lug nuts be torqued in 3 stages, 25 ft-lb, 40 ft-lb and then 65 - 75 ft-lb. I used 65 ft-lb for the final torque and I thought I was going to snap the studs off. Thankfully, it worked.
  3. The beam, cylinder and wedge assembly weighs 350 lbs. So I will tackle full assembly in a few days.
Will complete the assembly on my trailer and use my tractor to tow it off the trailer.

Did you get reasonably fresh tires?

The last set I ordered (and I mean last, not just latest) included two that were already over 2 years old.

They were returned, and I have now switched to a competitor where I can get tires less than 6 months old. Well, the oldest in the replacement set was.

Also, the price was lower, so a win, win for me.
Date code is 2525. That's good enough for me. They replaced tires that were 12 years old.

I have a 50's Nash with original Goodyear WWW spare tire. Last time I checked still holding air but rubber has turned to hard plastic.
I have a trailer my Grandfather made many years ago using a straight axle from a '32 Chevrolet. One tire went flat long ago and the old guy who fixed it said it's been a long time since he saw a red rubber inner tube.

Last year, when we bought the new house, Mom gave us a $200 Stark Bros gift card. Waited around, and finally ordered 1 ornage tree, 1 apple tree, 4 blueberry, an elderberry, and some thornless blackberries. Well, after months of waiting on them to ship, with zero warning, they showed up. So, to plant $200 worth of gift plants, we got about $300 worth of soil, mulch, fencing, and freeze cloth today.

Funny, im less worried about deer/rabbits, and more worried about our German shepherd. If you dont throw the ball as much as he likes, he gets mad/bored, and will intentionally rip plants out...

Sounds alot like my wifes garden. $$$ thousands worth of raised beds, top soil, manure, etc to grow probably $50 worth of vegetables . Now she wants a $3,000 fence around it.

But then again, i remember the time we got a cute BLM donkey rescue for $50.00, than threw down $4,000 for panels, feeders, water trough and fencing.
