With any luck I'll be able to say that in a few years...... But for now and today, this is my 30th year of welding and building weapons of mass destruction, maybe you'll get your money's worth, but according to CBS news maybe you won't, either way the 3rd one is well under construction with a million miles of Navy required pristine welds.>>>>> The war machine fit for a superhero - YouTube

I saw that piece. Way way over budget as per norm. I think if they ever started taking cost overruns out of the pockets and retirements of goverment and politicians that kinda crap just might come to a sudden and screeching halt. They seem to think our pockets are all bottomless pits.

Prayers for your son!
Thanks. He made it through that great 3 years ago, now he's a regular pain in the butt like a little boy should be.
I downloaded the rules from the airforce a while back. As far they are concerned he can fly fighter jets since he's fixed now.

Had the best day in whenever Tuesday. Helped oldest daughter take her 18 month old to her heart doctor. She was born with three holes in her heart. The nurses were all smiles and the little one was very cooperative. They ran all the tests and the doctor came in all smiles. He was literally jumping up and down he was so happy, and I mean the doctor. Her heart murmur is gone. Two of the holes have completely closed. And the third one, between the upper chambers of her heart which we could actually see on slow motion ultrasound, is so small he said that it was insignificant and would probably be gone in three years when he wanted to see her again. I have worried about this little one so much but she is so active and full of life I knew the holes were not slowing her down. After ever test, whenever she was scared or needed comfort, she held her arms out and came to granddaddy for protection.

Then yesterday I went with wife to babysit my other daughter's sick 3-1/2 month son. I played with him when he was in a good mood. Got him to laugh and jabber at me. Gave him back to wife when he started crying so she could change him, feed him, and get him down for a nap. Repeat process every two hours for eight hours.

I am finding that being a full time granddaddy can sometimes be a full time job.

To me THAT is what retirement is all about!

RSKY

My Wife was born with a hole in her heart, too. It was fixed when she was 5 years old. She was one of the top cross country runners in the state in high school. She's 49 now ... oops, I meant 29 now ... and still doing great.
Happy for your grandbaby, RSKY.

That is a nice job! I have wanted to fab something similar because you can't seem to get a good aerator that offers flexibility for a loader / skid steer. How will you mount it? Bucket clip on? It's own plate?

It will be mounted to a piece of I-beam, it has spikes too and I made a one point hitch and put on it, going to put it on a Farmall Cub.

Customer brought a shaft in he tried to get a 5/32" woodruff key out of. Drilled and tapped three 4-40 holes in it and put bolts we had in and squeezed it in the vise and pulled it out.

My typical day is checking e-mail for student issues on classes, checking all class courses on-line, and then teaching my semester courses. After that a couple office hours and then meetings if needed.

My day has been spent so far helping my wife entertain sixteen older ladies for a Valentine's Day Brunch. It wasn't that bad. After they were all seated in the sunroom and when I finished making waffles I escaped to the computer room and listened to music. We have been working on this project since Monday. Most of the guests were from our church and for a couple of them this is about the only event they attend all year because they can enter our house thru the garage and make it to the sunroom without going up steps. Ages ranged from early fifties to early nineties. I think two had walkers. Wife is exhausted and only the first of three dishwasher loads is finished.

The most eye opening thing that happened was after all but one of the ladies had left he house. The remaining lady and my wife were planning three wedding showers that will take place in the next three months. Those two work extremely well together because neither gets offended when the other tells her she is full of s--t. The planning session required two hours, two Ipads, and two notebooks while everything was covered. I'm talking about everything from how many people were expected, who had volunteered to help, who had volunteered to pay because they can't help, to the color of the candles on the tables. Everything has to match, everything has to be timed, everything has to be assigned to someone that has volunteered. And two type A personalities planning it all.

I doubt that D-Day took much more planning.

Being one of the retired men who is able to physically do things I catch the grunt duty. As usual my job will be putting up tables and chairs. Fetching things from upstairs at the church's BOB (Building Out Back). And generally staying out of the way and doing what I'm told to do by the two or three ladies in charge.

I also carry the heavy stuff.

When there is a death in our small community, and it doesn't have to be a member of the church, we also help with the "dinner for the family after the funeral". That also has a military precision to it. It takes all day to set it up and take it down. There are people coming and leaving at various times to help with setup, serving, and cleanup. Actions start happening unbelievably fast when the phone calls come in that "the group is leaving the funeral home", then "they are leaving the cemetery"! After you help a few times you know what each job requires and it always flows smoothly with the last of the food put out just in time for the first guests. I guess thirty years of practicing helps. We have fed from thirty to nearly two hundred at various times.

I am sometimes amazed that a group of sixty to eighty year old women, and most times one man (me), carry out the operation so smoothly.

Coffee, coffee and more coffee, breakfast then off to the dump. Down to the town south of me for some more groceries and then back to the house and putz around on the 'net for the rest of the day and I am still at it. Glad I am semi-retired and only work in the summer.
For all you old retired guys... doesn't the coffee seize you up an make it difficult to pee? Or is it just my prostate is bigger than your prostrate?
