What did you do at work today?

What I did.
Spent 2.5 hrs on my tractor blowing my and my daughter's drive free of snow.
So far this winter we seem to have more snow than all of last winter's total and we haven't even seen March yet (which generally has the worst dumpings)
I have snow banks 5ft high and my roof is holding up with about 48" sitting on it.
My front porch is flush to the railings and that was shoveled twice!

On the plus side we don't have tornadoes or floods just lots of snow.
The odd earthquake but nothing to break dishes just a bit of rattling from time to time.
Life is good

Oh, but I don't work, retired!

For all you old retired guys... doesn't the coffee seize you up an make it difficult to pee? Or is it just my prostate is bigger than your prostrate?

I think it's more an effort to keep it all flowing freely. Coffee is my only remaining vice, it will be a sad day when they take it away.

I answered questions and tried to keep things moving after IT messed up some files badly. Many are trying to find someone to blame, others are working to fix it. I just tell folks how to work around it and help them if they get stuck.. all good fun. Got a promotion today (new title), no raise.

Spent most of the day sitting in a conference room with an ISO consultant. I know you guys are jealous now. :yuck:

One of the things I don't miss about work; an entire day or days in a conference room. Sometimes the simplest decisions seem to take eons to reach, some folks seem to revel in process:confused:

Spent my day in my home office and gazed out the window while emailing/phoning. Always an inspiring sight.

I am still doing my work thing. We, the whole refinery are getting ready to start back up. Had some crude issues beyond our control. This picture is my control board. The PC is currently on the TBN site doing this posting.

Put together a shelving unit in the CMM room to better organize parts.

Nice looking panel! Is that a two op control room board, or just one?

Is that third one being built at the General Dynamics yard in Bath?

We are building the 3rd right now and an Arleigh Burke class and now the Navy wants a bigger Arleigh Burke destroyer for the same price, that Idea isn't going over to good, GD wants cost plus, I suppose they'll meet in the river somewhere.

WORK.....what work? I'm retired. I just sit around all day doing what my wife tells me to do.

Actually I spent the past two days trimming rose bushes and blowing, raking, and mulching leaves. Today I will start trimming limbs and other early spring yard work. This year I only have five yards to work in, ours, both daughter's, and our parent's. Last year I had six with the one we did for a friend (non-kin third daughter).

But I work on my own schedule and take off when I want to.

When installing the chain guards on the bush hog I remembered I tore the plastic shield off the gearbox so decided to make a new one out of steel. Found some scrap sheet metal with a bend and made it work. Had to cut a hole in each side to access the PTO shaft bolt and made some covers for the holes out of aluminum & welded nuts on the inside for the bolts. Drilled a couple holes in the bottom for water to get out incase it's on an angle when I unhook it. I took the PTO shaft with the clutch off and put it in the shop since I knew it wouldn't be getting used, no shed space for the bush hog in a shed and don't want the clutch & shaft to sit out in the weather all year. It's off to powdercoat now.

Put together a shelving unit in the CMM room to better organize parts.

For samples, we had a bench for incoming work, usually done 1 st in first out, unless something had priority. Once complete, it went to the finish bench, the supervisor had to review and sign off. Everything was time and date stamped. The operator had to sign it, and provide a copy of probe calibration. On the zeiss, the std deviation on the probes had to be <.001 micron.

Powdercoat is very durable, it holds up well outside (the bush hog sits outside) and it looks great! The cost shouldn't be that bad but I couldn't tell you what it cost, I haven't paid for anything to be powdercaoted in years. The man who owns the company and me are pretty tight, he needs welding done he gets welding done, I need painting done he gets painting done :) He also borrowed my skidsteer once (for 5 months) lol.
