get the HF 3pt quick attach and mod it or get the pins/sleeves... should help with attachment

I love my Harbor Freight quick hitch, but you may have to modify some of your implements. there are tons of videos on how to do this. Even with a quick hitch though, you still have to be able to back it up straight and put it where you want it

If you do get a QH, keep in mind your tiller driveshaft may to short now..
you and I have had this discussion ;)
but for his benefit, here's what happens to a too short PTO shaft. If it's too short, they can be sleeved and lengthened, just check it BEFORE you do what I did

Had all sorts of trouble getting the tiller attached today. Part of it was because I wasn't familiar with how to do it. And I had to cut the PTO shaft to size since this was the first time I've used it.

But a lot of the trouble was trying to moose the thing around to get the pins in place. Considering one of the HF engine hoists, but I may have to change the wheels on it due to rough ground. They're rated for 2,000 pounds and the tiller is less than 500.

Thoughts?

totally understand havin to 'moose the thing around' they can flat out be a bugger! is this a new tiller? or one you've used with another tractor? just curious

ok speaking of quick hitches, and modifying things to work with them. Today, I got out and did mod my limb chipper so that the quick hitch would fit it. since I was making it fit the way I want, I made it fit the same setup as my tiller, bush hog, landscape rake and box blade. BUT, just in case I have to move the top hook, I did away with the bolts, bent a piece of rod to make a u shaped pin, drilled a hole for a pin to go in it, no more fighting the thing to adjust it now!

the chipper:

New and blue.

Most QH's add at least 4 inches to the length, you already cut yours down so I would guess it's now to short with the added distance of a QH..

you could try a 4 or 5 ft piece of pipe to use as a lever to help move the pins where you need them. My first tiller was a 50" I had with a little yanmar tractor, good grief that thing was awful to try to hook up. I got a piece of pipe and used it to help me adjust pin placement. Love my quick hitch though, now I just back under, raise the lift and get off and lock the handles. Even if you don't get all 3 hooks in place, you can pick it up, it'll swing where it needs to, then set it back down, or if you get the top and one side, you can just use the tractor to push it back square....

something else I did on mine today. That neighbor across the road from me had his nephew come and trim a bunch of low hanging water oak limbs. The ones that'll take your hat off while you're cutting grass....thinking he wasn't home, I went over and loaded up the limbs to bring back over and chip up since I had the chipper on the tractor. He surprised me when I looked up from tying them to the loader bucket. He just looked at me and grinned, and said "I bet I know who got those other limbs cleaned up now" ;)

I told him I wanted any limbs that come down, so I can add them to my mulch/compost pile ;)

it looks like a lot, but it turned into a relatively small pile of chips and leaves:

Questions .....

What Hydraulic fluid should I have on hand? Dealer gave me a gallon of generic 303.

When I activate the left turn signal, why does the right lamp come on steady while the left flashes? And same for the opposite.

Dealer gave me two keys. I wouldn't mind having another spare. Can they be made locally (without the LS logo obviously), or do they have to be ordered? Cost?

For those that have BHs, when you detach, do you leave them on their three legs, or do you block/prop the center body?
303 is for the old stuff.
