Do you find out when it falls out? Or are you checking it frequently?

Looks pretty accessible. Is your ring gear guard only partial coverage? Mine is like that.
No, it’s never fallen out, found during routine maintenance check. It’s very easy to access, no cover, just look up from underneath/rear of machine. Ring guard is as pictured, partially covered.

Can the head be drilled and then safety wire it to something nearby? It can't back out if it can't turn.
That gear has to turn 360degrees foreword and reverse, don’t think a safety wire would work in this situation. I expect that the red loctite will do the trick.

Meanwhile, the number of youtube user videos on these machines continues to increase. Mike Festiva's video of his machine shows safety wire factory installed on his unit (Rippa R319).

Ours looks like yours, I'll start checking that bolt. Thanks.

Good catch. If you lose or break the pinion gear, that is gonna be a Bad Day.

My recent cushion valve installation has made house rotation smoother. Highly recommended.

Some machines seem to have a full-coverage ring gear guard, and some, none at all.

Now I gotta go check the bolt for tightness.....

There's a local contractor who installed the gas line for the local utility. That guy could really backfill quickly with the front bucket on his excavator. I don't think I've ever seen anybody else operate so quickly.

Just bought the AGT 9 piece set of attachments for my 2 L-12's. no pix yet but got the so called quick tach put on. Interesting for sure! Grapple mounting looks like you have to strip the whole end off the boom to mount it and that was what I wanted the most so one of the 12's might just be grapple unit and nothing else. jury still out on that one. Dont need post hole diggers but one came in the package. The bucket assortment and ripper is what I was after.

I use the quick attachment too, works pretty well, however I do not have the grapple attachment. I do have a grapple for my tractor which I love. I will say the quick attach pins are showing wear after 40hrs. Of pretty hard use. It’s something I need to look into sooner rather than later. I do grease regularly, just about before every use.

pic. of the pallet of the attachments minus the "quick" hitch which I put on the newest L-12.
Diggin on another tile line.---had to uncover the old clay tile and remove it then straddle the ditch and go deeper to be on grade for the new tile.
Been runnin 4' deep with it and so far it digs fine. Gotta grease the digger before I start today then go again.
