If the Weather improves I can do a lift test with a 2200lb hanging crane scale I picked up to test trailer tongue weight. However I have no doubt that the hydraulics on the Baby Ex can get you in trouble compared the weight and geometry of the machine. My land is flat. Lift capacity is my major concern with the stuff I’m getting.
I saw that video, or a similar one, and it was hard to watch. You can hear the poor guy screaming until the camera shuts off .. I suspect the ROPS got him. Everyone with a mini-X should see it.There is a mini-ex accident video on youtube where the operator was on a steeply ramped slope, turned the boom downhill, and the mini-ex turned over.
While these are amazing machines when used within their limitations, serious injury may happen if they tip over.
That will be interesting, I think most people will be surprised at the lifting power. I cut logs in the Daniel Boone National Forest 40 years ago and I learned something about the weight of logs. I am comfortable guessing my machine will lift 800lbs or more under the right conditions. If the Weather improves I can do a lift test with a 2200lb hanging crane scale I picked up to test trailer tongue weight. However I have no doubt that the hydraulics on the Baby Ex can get you in trouble compared the weight and geometry of the machine.
Just from my short usage of mine I would say the biggest concern is lifting an object and than rotating the deck to the side could lead to tip over since the narrow track width and small counterweight does not provide the same leverage as lifting with blade down fully to the front.
I was surprised how inexpensive they are nowadays. I got this one from Amazon for ~$50all great info thanks guys. I wonder what my little Massey will lift weight wise. I’ve lifted some decent sized log lengths that lave lifted the front wheels off the ground but I really have no idea of their weight. Maybe I should get one of those scales.
