This is the first time I have posted anything on your site. I own 30 acres, 15 of which is field and the rest is brush and woods. I am looking to purchase a tractor that will finish mowe approximately 3 acres and brush hog the remaining 12+ acres two-three times per year. I would also need a box blade and snow blade to use on the driveway, which is 1/2 mile long. I would like to have a FEL and BH, since we are building a house on the site and have numerous other projects planned for the property. I need to purchase these things within one year. There is a New Holland, Kiote, Kobota and John Deer dealership within 50 miles of my property, and would prefer to purchase one of these brands. The budget for this equipment is $20,000 for the tractor and attachments. Do you have any suggestions as far as equipment size and/or brand? Any help you could give me would be appreciated - Thanks!

From the Deere angle, and without the backhoe, the mid-size Deere 4410 (I have the Deere 4300) would be sized and priced about right for you. 35 hp is what I would recommend, but you can go up or down from there and manage, as well as select other brands that will fit your needs.

Brand (IMO) can be selected by picking the best dealer in your area, if you don't have a color in mind that turns you on. Just like auto's, the dealer can make a huge difference down the road.

Good luck with your decision. It will be a fun 'ride' for you.

From the Kubota side....I would say given your price constraints.....the B7610 FEL, backhoe, and the mowers will be in the $20,000 range.

This would be the smallest machine for your needs, yet still would be able to work. If you forgo the backhoe, then a Grande L series would probably be more appropriate, like a 3130 or something.

The biggest new Deere you'll get at that price with a FEL and BH is a 4110. I think that's a bit small for what you are doing unless you have lots of time on your hands. I suspect you will either end up spending more or finding a used machine that will do the job.

That is, I think you need a lot more machine than 20,000 will get you in any brand unless you forgo the backhoe or go used.

I own a B7610 and it is a great tractor but for your needs I would look at the B7800 which is 30 HP and that would be the smallest I would recommend for you. But again the BH makes the purchase jump over the 20,000 mark. The B7610 would and could do all that you need to do but at slower pace.
But again I would visit the dealers and choose the dealer that you LIKE the best. Without looking at just the color, which all of the brands that you mentioned are good. Go with the dealer you will be more than pleased in the long run. I have been very pleased with mine and IT DOES make a big difference.

I think the Kioti DK35 with loader and BH would be just what the Dr. ordered. I believe you could get it all within your budget or very close to it. This tractor has a lot of bells and whistles that come standard and is weighty enough to use the HP effeciently. Lift capacities are higher than some also. Check it out, it's a great fit and easily trailered as well. John

John,
I think the DK 35 with loader/backhoe would go over his budget by a good bit.
A 3054xs with loader and backhoe may come in very close to budget though.

I'd take a look at a New Holland TC30 which is a "economy" tractor that is very reliable and proven and would meet your needs. I think you could get one with the equipment you need within your budget.

You may be right Vince, I need to check up on it. I know the 3054XS could be in range, with the tractor and loader being about 17K around here. BH may bring it up about a 1K over his mark though. John

I agree - I think the LK3054XS is probably a good choice for the projects listed. Might go over just a little with all the implements.
