Not for long

OP here: My Y2K GMC still has BOTH original headlight bulbs, I have only replaced ONE DRL bulb during 16 years of ownership. That there says a LOT about how long today's bulbs last.

Real nice young service technician who looked about 15 years old connected the iPhone in a few seconds. What the ???? He said you have to wait until all the lights on the dash and radio turn off. He even opened then closed the driver's door to reset the radio. I'm getting too old for this. Thx for all your help. Stanley

I think it true. I can remember my father showing me how to raise a low striking door with a hammer handle as a pry point. Now you plug in a lead open this switch the key on and off 3 time or whatever and magic happens.. It's a good thing we have the Internet or we would be at the mercy of the dealers and manufacturers.

At work, I service all 3 major brands of pickup truck, and the process to reset the dash warning "change oil" message is different on all 3, sometimes different between same brand, different years/models. Drives me nuts, most don't get reset, a piece of masking tape with "next Oil (mileage xxx) in the upper left windshield corner is what they get.

I truthfully think car and truck makers add in all this gimcrackery to FORCE owners to go to a shop. First car I ever owned with an oil life monitor was a '92 Olds 98...resetting that to 100% oil life after every change was a 3 step process for button pushing....Test, Oil, Reset. After about 3 oil changes I had the steps memorized.

I disagree. You have to keep learning in life or get left behind.

I disagree with you. At age 65 my memory has stopped processing anything but the most essential crap so much gets left behind....what are the adults in my generation supposed to do?
