Last known, Glenn was re-evaluating his presence on the board, due to the personal (vicious and uncalled for in my opinion) verbal attack he recieved from someone on the board who did not like his viewpoint. Understandably, he was quite upset about it.
MARK C? Haven't a clue, but has anyone sent him an email?

Ok Scruffy let me ask this---it wasn't something I said was it?
Lets look back a year ago at how many posts there was during a day compared to now. Wow has this board grown. I still try to keep up on the messages but so many new names.
I got an e-mail from Mark in early March, he is busy doing a couple of computer projects and doing well at that time.
So let us remember our roots.

Gordon, Not that I know of!! Whomever did the deed, was not man/woman enough to identify themselves. Muhammad killed the post, but not soon enough so that GlennMac didn't see it. Disagreement is fine, but there are gentlemanly ways to do so without creating the hurt generated in that instance.

It was more than the offending post that was killed, the entire thread was removed. As I recall the thread was on safety and GlennMac had a less popular viewpoint. I had also posted in the thread with a less popular viewpoint. If I remember correctly it was more than just one person that did not want to hear the differing opinions, after all it was about safety and how could anybody question that. There was some good opinions on both sides expressed in a civil manor, it was to bad the entire thread was pulled instead of just the personal attack type post(s).
I know that have I reduced my participation here, ever since, as a result of that thread.

I don't think you should punt with just that incident, this board is just about free of the nonsense that most internet talk groups have to put up with. As long as we try to stick to generally tractors we are OK, when we start things like Bush is a Boob, Gore is a Goof etc there might be some problems! But I've seen some really intelligent discussions on politics, gun control etc also on some boards, of course there's always someone that goes off on most boards.
I have been reading this and don't even remember the particular thread. If it was pulled, I must have missed it somehow, maybe one of those times I was out stuck in the bog, trying to figure out why I wasn't heading my own advice to hook a short chain to the bottom of the tractor BEFORE you go into the goo! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'm not sure which thread you are referring-to, ...or when Glenn last posted.
I was wondering if the thread in question might have been the following, which generated some strong response: "Hunters Beware" / Oct. 2000 - Rural Living forum.

If it was some other thread, and as you say, the topic was "safety" related, then I would strongly oppose the elimination of an entire thread, rather than just the offensive post.

Any "kitchen" can have its high-temperature moments, but in general, and particularly on TBN, is still a "homey" place of camaraderie and good will.
If I am correct, Glenn is a lawyer. Surely philisophical differences and "argument" are not unfamiliar elements to him. Hopefully his recent absence is not simply a response to strongly-worded differing opinion. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
In any case, differences in the thread to which I refer were expressed with civility, for the most part. I think TBN is an example of how well-intended members can share a variety of "views" without destroying the underlying base of friendliness and mutual respect. Exceptions may occur, but shouldn't be permitted to change the "course" of the membership-at-large.

I sure hate to see anyone quit TBN just because they got jumped on a little hard. I did a post that wasn't in good taste once and someone got on my case pretty hard. But after 20 years in my line of work, I am pretty thick skinned. I had Mohammad remove my post because it probally offended the person who jumped me so hard. Keep a stiff upper lip you all and COME ON BACK!!
